We all try and curate some sense of order with wishlists, but we often fall prey to moments of weakness. Which ponies were impulse buys? Pics are def welcome. (And I'll take some later)

Unicorns:

Hula Hula-I thought this set was tacky and ugly for a while and then I saw a pic of her in good lighting and was wowed. Ending up getting and loving her. She's one of my favorites. Funny how that works sometimes?

Twilight-I've always liked her, but she was never on my wishlist. Got her in a trade with Ology. She's even prettier in person.

Earth Ponies:

Bunny Hop-I've always liked this set and tbh I occasionally kick myself for not getting one with an unbroken symbol, but she's so cute and I love her pose and I just love her! Even though she's broken.

Baby Racer-I always wanted one, but I never thought I'd get one. I pounced on him for a very good deal and I couldn't be happier with the little guy.

Loop-de-la She was an impulse buy from Ology. I thought she was pale blue, not frosty pale green. She's so pretty!

Tea Leaf, Baby Keen Bean, Cotton Candy, Toola Roola and Lucky Clover-My most recent impulse buys from the swapmeet (that I'm keeping.) Such cute ponies!

Pegasus:

Paradise-She's cute but was never on my wishlist. Got her for Christmas.

Merry May-My daughter grabbed one and she just ticked a lot of boxes for me, being bright green, with a pretty name on a rearing pose. Would love a cross gen custom of this little girl.

Sea Ponies:

Baby Sea Star-I liked her springtime colors. She's a cute lil pony. Bought her from Mimic.

Sea Light-Impulse grab in a trade with Ology. She's such a sweet pretty pony.

Unipeg:

Princess Luna-I actually wanted the water cutie version, but they were nowhere to be found. I snagged the light up version on the store shelves. She's got a surprisingly thick tail and is rather cute.

Merpony:

Fluttershy-I wasn't going to get any mane six mers unless they were for customs. But her pearliness was pretty and she hadn't annoyed the crap outta me by being in every set I wanted that was also packed with a mane six, so I didn't have any of her.

I was set on only purple ponies, but those tropical babies! I also received the most gorgeous cherries jubilee from skybreeze. The other impulse keepers are for my girl who would keep every single one.

Tropical Babies are too cute for their own good.

A lot of my ponies were impulse buys, in that I didn't deliberate on the purchases much but I bought them because I found them in the wild or online for cheap, but Cuddles here stands out! I never really had her on my wishlist but I saw her for cheap on ebay and though eh, why not. She's grown on me! Her powder blue + yellow combo is pretty cute, actually.

I'm ashamed to say my worse impulse buys were the pricey ponies. If I found one for a "good" deal I'd snatch it up with the excuse that, "well, they're only gonna get more expensive and harder to find" so here take my 200.00  I mean, I always paid what I thought was a fair price, I would never overpay for a pony but when I came across some of the pricey ones like Mommy/Baby, Scoops and some of the rarer international ones for a decent price I would go ahead and get them when I could afford it. My goal was to complete the US collection so I knew I would have to acquire them sooner or later and it was like ripping off a band-aid, just do it!

For me it’s been mostly ponies I found second hand that weren’t on my want list. I’ll pick up any second hand G1s I find, if the price isn’t crazy, for resale. But there’s been several that have ended up staying in my collection after I cleaned them up. Mainsail, baby Sweet Stuff, Hula Hula, and Pina Colada are some that come to mind.
