I know next-to-nothing about international ponies, so I'm looking to the MLPTP for some help. A few years ago, I traded some stuff for a (supposedly) German Steamer from a member on here.

I can't tell what country he was manufactured in because the hoof showing his country of origin has a small factory flaw right in the center. See what I mean? Supposedly, this meant that he was German. I just took their word for it; I didn't care, all I wanted was that Steamer. To be honest, I really don't care if he is or isn't, I'm just curious.

The German brother ponies are missing the "pat pend" mark in their feet. It loos like the plastic is rubbed or slightly carved where that marking usually is. His back feet will still say "made in Hong Kong", because German ponies were *sold* in Germany, but not made there. ;) German Brother ponies are worth about the same as their US counterparts (or maybe just slightly more) because there is no big difference other than the lack of a "pat pend" mark.

It looks like your boy is German to me. :smilepony:

Curious about his mane and tail. The tail looks white but mane is so pink. Was he like that or got rehair?

That is definitely a German/Non-Pat Pend Steamer. :)

The German Brothers generally have a blob covering the Pat Pend mark, whereas the NPP Dads tend to have it scraped out. Occasionally the Brothers have the scraped look though.

German Steamer is darker in body color and slightly larger than the US release. His hair is also less prone to fading from my experience. If he was not a re-hair, is there a chance that the tail is from a different Steamer?

I apologize for my lack of response, I completely forgot about this thread. >__>'
I never knew that they were missing the Pat. Pend. stamp on their hooves - are there any other variants that share this trait aside from the German ones?

As for his tail, he came that way. His head swivels, so I'm guessing it was removed at one point and that he's a re-hair.
Thank you for your help!
