I liked KB Toys a lot. Their prices were more reasonable and they kick kick bootimus sales and clearance racks. As long as I get my toy fix, I will be loyal to no store! GIMME PONIES, STORES!

Then TrU? Maybe where you lived Foof. Our KB made TrU look like Walmart. That and our TrU is only a a dollar or few higher then Walmarts. :)

Same here. Our KB was always the most expensive place to buy toys, and they had a very poor selection of older releases that I mostly already had from cheaper stores. I only bought from there when it was something that none of the other stores ever got in the first place (a rare occurrence).

Maybe we were lucky and had a decent store manager at our KB store. It probably didn't hurt that it was in a small county mall that was already failing, so they kept luring people in with good buys and tons of clearance. I sort of suspect they might have been a dumping ground for older toys that had already been cleared out of big towns' toy stores. I never knew what was new stock or old, so I just grabbed whatever.

One bum thing about living in a small place, you get toy releases later than everyone else and sometimes never at all. That still seems to hold true even now.

Well Okay I have nothing good to say really about this one. KB has been such an over priced store for who knows how long. Every time I went in that store I came out empty handed. They had nothing worth buying at all. Their concept is no different, So how is it they think they will survive with TRU can't? How will they compete with Amazon, Walmart and Target? This is the issue that these people (millionaires) aren't getting. There is a problem in the fact that people are not shopping at these store fronts that only sell toys. They want to shop where they can buy many types of things. So, my thought is they are going to come in and bomb. Sorry, lets prove me wrong. I just can't see this working at all. Even if they get a website so what. Tru had a website. It didn't help them to have a website. Also it has been brought up that children want to put there heads in phones and video games and the face of toys are changing more and more every year. Here is another factor they need to think about. This was another TRU failure they admitted. So, I hope my negative opinion is all wrong and they will do great. I have doubts. Walmart is a huge problem. We need to get rid of it if you ask me. It has destroyed so many businesses and it continues to do so. Amazon is another virus that has the potential to destroy walmart and I never thought that would happen. The world today is nothing like it was when I was a child. Small stores could stay open and people could make a living with them. Not any more.

Hopefully they'll get permanent locations. Because if they're pop-up stores and have exclusives, scalpers will come running and it'll be im-freaking-possible to get anything. Greedy turds. o_O

Yea R2 said they would be bigger stores not those small mall types. I guess we will have to see what happens. Yea the scalpers are bad. They clean the shelves off at walmart and target so well; I can never find anything...if not for the fact that Walmart has major theft issues within their stores. Many of the Disney Nanofigs are opened and one figure removed. I wonder how Walmart just lets this continue like they do? How can they turn a profit when it is so easy for little theify fingers to steal stuff there. I tell you though I really want a good toy store to go to. R2 and I went all of the time. TRU was where I got most of my Schleich figures and Calico Critter stuff. Its super sad to lose the store, but I noticed there were never very many people in TRU.

I sure hope it comes back! I miss it and was outraged when KB disappeared a decade ago.

I also got the bulk of my generation 3 ponies there.

If TRU has to go then it can go as long as I have KB!

It'd be nice if TrU made a comeback someday too. I bought Grand Champions and G3s there too.

acutally I mentioned that in the TRU post I guess no one clued in. I remember KB when I was a kid living in the states. I think it would be neat if it makes a come back.:)

Any further news of this?

I couldn't find any relevant mentions on google in the past few months, only the common "TrU suffered the same fate as KB" remarks in articles. It must have been cancelled or delayed, because now is prime time to start figuring out contracts for pop-up stores. They're going to have to be quick on the heels of Spirit Halloween.
I noticed where my old TrU was, there was a pop-up shop that looks to be part of "Halloween City" called "Toy City". They were still setting up the Toy part of it when I went in, but it seems like at least SOMEONE is doing the pop-up shops for Christmas.

Tbh, I doubt they'd get anything up in time for this Christmas. Perhaps next Christmas?

TOYS R US MIGHT BE GETTING REVIVED INSTEAD rofl
If this is by the same people who were trying to do the KB toys revival, this makes much more sense as more consumers have awareness of TrU (at least, freshly grown adults with children)

I know. I'd gladly welcome both.

Here's some articles, and I heard it was mentioned on live news by friends of friends on Facebook

There are many more articles you can find more by typing "Toys R Us revival" in google search. Those are just the sources that stood out the most, to me
