Mattel vs. Hasbro

I love them both equally I have been collecting for Barbie and My Little Pony for 20 years I love how soft the Hasbro dolls are compared to Mattel but I like how tall Mattel dolls are the later Hasbro dolls are nicer in the faces and they have more detailed then the Mattel dolls

Definitely prefer Mattel’s dolls over the most recent Hasbro ones I think Hasbro has the ability to create nice, pretty dolls

but they got lazy and instead give us these, like I can only tell that’s Jasmine cause of her clothes :/

That said, I’ve really been liking jakks pacific lately ^_^ look what they did with the encanto dolls. All different body types, face molds specific to each character, clothing that loos like actual fabric and has some layers (both hasbro and Mattel have been doing single layers with details just printed on) and I think the likenesses are pretty good!

I am not a Barbie or other doll collector, so my opinion is unbias.

I like Hasbro over Mattell because I feel like Hasbro's dolls have more expressive personality and each face is different. Mattel tend to keep the same "Barbie"-style face on all, it's not fun for me. I KNOW it's barbie when I see them. Hasbro I see the characters they are portraying.
I just feel like Mattel goes "Oh, want Cinderella? Just give Barbie Cinderella clothes, change her hair and we got Cinderella"

The Jakk's is amazing solely because they LOOK like the characters, and not a representation, which pleases me.

That’s true, a lot of Mattel’s have a very Barbie like face (especially cinderella and Aurora), not all of them though

Right! They even gave bigger hands to Bruno and all the right variations of skin color to them I’ve never noticed them much as a doll company but these are great

I voted mattel, but not the Mattel dolls before they lost the rights. I voted mattel just for the 90s and early 2000s dolls lol. They lost the rights bc they got cheap and sloppy. I honestly think both Mattel and Hasbro has had both good and bad dolls. If i could Id vote for both at their best, not at their worst. I like when dolls actually look like the character, both have been guilty of making really non accurate dolls.
However my favorite dolls have to be the 90s ones.. For me its the golden age of dolls! (not saying it has to be for everyone, just me personally ) They just look the most like the actual characters to me, tho I did grow up with these dolls so im biased lol.



To me and my personal tastes, the way they sometimes oversize the heads on play-line dolls makes them not look like themselves and I usually prefer the versions they make with smaller head proportions. Nothing wrong with someone else liking them I just personally dont. Excited to see where Mattel goes with the rights now that theyve gotten them back!
