I'm about 10 episodes in and loving this show. Great messages for kids on how to be a good friend and good person. I love kid's shows that teach and entertain.

Pinkie Pie is really growing on me. I love her energy and the way she bounces along.

I'm having trouble with Applejack. Her accent is making me nuts. Is it just me? Her character is great, but that accent...

Episode 10 was titled "Swarm of the Century", which is disappointing because a more accurate title should have been the "Pinkie Pied Piper" or "The Trouble with Tribbles".

The show is doing it's job by reinforcing my need to acquire the toys. You'd think by my age, I'd be hip to marketing strategies, but I'm bahhing like a sheep as I go forth in search of an Apple Blossom toy ;)

Welcome to the MLP:FiM club. From here there’s no turning back, just so you know.

I’ve been a fan since season one. I love the messages in this series, but I’m a fan of the continuity of the show and character growth. Also the music, I’m a sucker for musical numbers. It’s something we don’t see a lot in “kids” show like we did when I was younger.

Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Spike are my favourites from this series mostly because of their growth over the last seven seasons.

Have fun with it!!

Hi I hate Applejack :ponylove:

Mlp fim is addicting cause of the humor mixed in with the stories and the art and stuff

The more I watch, the more I like Pinkie. She is such a fun character. I'm finishing up the first season tonight.

Why do you hate AJ? I hate her accent, but I like her character. She is so hardworking and tries to help all her friends. But, that accent. Did I mention I hate it?

I don't know exactly

Probably because of her view and attitude towards the arts and fashion and that she's the reason Big Mac stopped talking

I have lots of family in the midwest so personally I love Applejack's accent. She's my favorite because she's always been the best at being a friend, though that doesn't leave much room for character development in a show about friendship.

Whoo! I'm all about FiM!! :D Warning: rave/long post ahead!

I got into the show, surprisingly, through youtube clips. I didn't have Discovery Family Channel at the time, (formerly the Hub), (then later got a cable package upgrade, then satellite), so I had to get the episodes on iTunes. Started with Season one and got to watch S2 when it was new and never looked back. The show, despite being aimed at the 3 and up crowd, has some of the funniest humor I've seen in any animation, maybe in any show period. It never fails to make me laugh, mostly because the characters are unapologetically sarcastic, weird and silly at times. (OMG, one of the newest episodes, "Grannies gone Wild" had me dying on the floor laughing. It got away with stuff you wouldn't think to see in a little kid show or in MLP. MLP seems to do that a lot, but it makes it all the better by surprising you while keeping it for all ages.)

I have never identified more with a character in any series then I do with Fluttershy. Even in my 30s, she still reflects me amazingly well, even as we both develop and change over time. (No spoilers, but all the girls get character development over the course of the show.) Shy characters are incredibly rare in American media, I notice, since America I guess sees being shy as a bad thing. (In Japan, it may be seen as appealing, but I don't know a ton about Japanese culuture, just guessing. I've also seen a few shy anime characters in many an anime.) Strangely, I can really relate to Twilights early nuerotic-ness, but, as I can't relate to her much otherwise (sans her love of books and reading), she's least favorite on my list, below Rarity by default. (Rarity used to be at the bottom, until her dramatic ways became funnier for me.) Pinkie is my second favorite, because on my best days, I'm her. I also consider myself wierd and she's just cute, pink and funny. It took me a loooong time to warm up to Rainbow Dash, but eventually I became a fan of hers. She would is like some of the worst and best parts of me; Vanity, impatience, an absolute talent for sticking her foot in her mouth, but also perseverence, loyalty, and a good kind of stubbornness. And nothing stops her from getting what she really wants, like me.

I wish I could get into more of what happens in later seasons, but I will say that Discord is a gift and that this show has developed one of the most creative, busy, fun, interesting fandoms in the history of time. (I wish I could contribute more FiM fan art myself, but I haven't gotten there yet and I'm too stuck on X-Men, as I have been since 2000!)

Applejack is best pony. I wish she had more toy exposure- she doesn't have a Glitter and Shine seapony toy and trying to find her in the ponyzilla size is heartbreaking :<

I just...take the movie with a grain of salt. I don't like what they did to the characters in the climax and missed opportunities. I pretend it didn't happen, haha!

I started watching it for my daughter and got back into collecting. However, I think it starts to get a little of course, not quite as good, repetitive, after season 3. It's still ok, still has some great new characters, they even keep a plot line going. I just, personally, think it's just a little odd in season 7. Which is the last I've seen. I'm sure we'll still watch season 8 when it comes to Netflix, but how will they squeeze out a season 9? Or are they planning on ending it.

Season 9 is the last for FiM and generation 4. The studio is working on generation 5 now and another complete reboot of the MLP cartoon and toy designs.

My fingers are crossed that they don’t back track. Only time will tell.

Backtracking is my fear too! I don't want it to be the baby-aimed soft, cute, rainbow filled ponies with (probably) no plot that generation three and three point five direct to DVD's were. Granted, I've watched like five minutes of one, but that was enough. I might try again to see if there's any redeeming value in them, but they just didn't seem like my cup of tea. I'm sure a lot of other adult pony fans liked them and that's their right, but, uh, not my thing. (I guess G4 just has more personality and better plots, even though it's still aimed at children? I felt a bit hypocrital writing all that, but I think what I mean is that FiM has slightly more depth then it's predecessors, at a glance.)

I'm a tiny bit worried about the rumors of cutting/revising Applejack (I like her, but I don't LOVE her I guess), but sometimes it's out with the old and in with the new, and new doesn't always mean bad. New can be likeable, fun and exciting.

I've seen the picture of supposed gen 5 alterations. Not impressed. I think they should start with completely different characters. Not revised versions of the g4. If they want to use revisions, I think they should go all the way back to g1. The babies were such fun characters and every unicorn had one unique power. I wouldn't mind a return of flutter ponies either.

@Mini Wolfsbane - I agree with you. G3 & 3.5 are very difficult to watch. Although, the “target audience” loved it. I just really enjoy the world building, continuity, and strong female leads of G4. It brought back a lot of the old elements of G1 that worked well.

@Tak - I too would like to see them go back to the G1 route. I’d love to have more story lines like G4 but with the characters of G1 (maybe leaving out humans)... I’d LOVE to see the Moochick return. He was always a favourite of mine. Also my favourite ponies, Shady, Lickety Split, Gusty, Surprise and Wind Whistler... but from things I’ve read that’s not the way it’s going. I also would love to see (true) flutter ponies (not the lame ones from this round) and bush woolies return.

Yeah, no humans please.

Lots of bushwoolie!

I want more real sea ponies.

I just looked those up, I'm not that impressed ether, they look like they rearranged everyone's place in the show and called it dun. Also the human thing is what killed my interest in G4, first time I heard any thing about it I though it sounded really dumb, and it was.
