Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - Good & Bad

I love using the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser product for cleaning up things like dirt and cigarette smoke stains. It also works on other stains such as old makeup and pen and marker. But if it is a lot and it has been on the pony for years, it's not the greatest at removing bright highlighter such as a bright pink from a yellow pony or black permanent marker from a hoof.

Well I had a mishap today. I decided to dig out my childhood G1's and some some clean up on them. Getting rid of that nasty cigarette smoke stains from my mom smoking by them and just plain old dirt. But unfortunately for my poor Seashell and flat foot Blossom, Mr. Clean was not a good clean friend. When I used it on Seashell, I noticed on the eraser some purple had come off on it, but nothing was wrong with Seashell herself so I paid it no real mind. But when I got to Blossom, she ended up looking like a skunk!! You could really see a purple difference. the streak on her is now a lighter purple than the rest of her body.

Also, be very very very very careful with the magic eraser near symbols, it will partially if not full removed G1 symbols. As for G3's, it's a lot of hard work to remove those with it.

Yes! This is something that can happen around the house also, especially if you use it on a painted wall, then on another wall that is a different colour. It doesn't just take off the mark, but can take off some paint as well... and transfers that onto what you do next!

It's a good cleaning tool but it's mildly dangerous. =/ I'm not sure if rinsing it between each and every little use would help this or not, I haven't used mine in a long while.

I only use it to get off surface dirt on my ponies, it useless for set in stains, but it makes cleaning them go so much faster. I'm really careful around the paint though and I haven't had a problem with it taking paint off.

Sometimes the plastic in the pony will deteriorate and the dye will bleed. I had that once on a Lemon Drop that I don't know what happened to her, but yellow dye kept coming off on the sponge. I regularly rinse the sponge out since if it's too dirty it'll just deposit the dirt back on to the pony. I wasn't too worried about the Lemon Drop anyway since a saddle was left on her and it left stains, I just wanted to see how clean I could get her. She's definitely a lighter yellow now, but at least she's not oozing dye anymore, lol.

I always use Magic Eraser to clean my ponies. You have to be sure when you use it on one pony, you tear of the chunk on the eraser that you cleaned the pony with. Ya know, rip off the dirty part of the eraser.

And that's funny about the symbols rubbing off for you. I scrub on all of mine, and never once had it affect any of them...G1, G2, or G3. *shrugs*

I usually cut each eraser into little blocks. Just use a block for each pony then throw it away.

That's weird that the dye comes off! I'll be sure to be careful if I use it!
