My first hair restoration practice on Fluttershy! Any tips for making hair less stringy?

My future goal is to restore MLP, and this was my first practice! I got this G4 Fluttershy in a lot of older Ponies, and I thought she would be good for my first hair practice (I was worried about damaging the older Ponies' hair, and I figured I wouldn't be too heartbroken if I ruined hers). I decided to curl her tail because there was some matting that I just couldn't get out; the curl kind of covers it up. Any tips for making the front hair look less stringy? I'm going to redo the style so it's correct on the display side.

Aww she looks pretty

What did you already do on her?
I can tell she's a bit of a later release by the eyes. The later G4 just have a lower quality overall. I would suggest using a hair straightener if you haven't already to remove the last of the matting (I can't really see it?).
The hair does tend to dry the way you leave it, maybe wrap the tips in paper towel before curling around the leg to keep them in check.
EDIT! Wait! The tails suck. The tails just absolutely suck all the time. Definitely need a straightener on those.

I did use a hair straightener on the tail (I'm not sure if it was hot enough? I was really worried about melting it lol. My straightener doesn't have degrees; it just has heat levels 1 to 20, so I have no idea how hot it really was), but I will try again. I will also try wrapping it around the leg. Thank you for the advice!
