So... most of you know that my daughter, myself, and then my dog all chipped a tooth last year. Well, me being me, I had a repeat of the incident on Friday. So today I got both middle bottom teeth capped and strengthened. Yippee?
Do they look ok? They were expensive, so I hope so. I feel like I got punched in the mouth and this is the first time there's been any blood on the surrounding teeth after the work. It was a bit macabre. I'm going to need to switch to plastic cutlery. :(

They're a little shorter, so they don't touch anymore. o_O

They look all normal, and straight to me

What are the consequences of not leveling out a chipped tooth?

Thanks. On the whole, I've been really blessed with good teeth. The two chips that I've had were sharp, so they cut my tongue, and they were deep enough to expose a little of the nerve, which hurts. We leveled both front teeth even though I'd only chipped one because, as my oldest adult teeth, they were getting weak and would have been very uneven. So my dentist offered to take them both down across the back and top. Then the, essentially, fillings across the backs strengthen them and over the top it evened them out, but covered all nerve endings.

I can't say I've always been perfect with my dental hygiene/health, but I didn't get a cavity until my tonsils were infected for 5 months and I physically couldn't reach the tooth under one of them. I was 17. I didn't get another until I was twenty five. I'd like to keep my teeth as long as possible. My insurance doesn't cover implants, so my only option would be dentures. I've heard they're a live saver for many people. I'd still like to avoid it as long as possible.

My daughter didn't start getting her first tooth until after she started walking. She was 10 months old. Her dentist says that's good, because, as long as she takes care of them, they'll last longer than if they'd come in earlier. She's still got her baby eye teeth.
