So I was at the goodwill not long ago and saw this old bouncy rocking horse from the 50's and despite it being really beat up and the hair being a rat's nest. I bought it and decided to completely customize it for my daughter so she would have a custom carousel horse that was a bouncy rocking horse from the vintage 50's. So yesterday I started cleaning it all by bleach wiping every last bit of dirt off. I cut all the old 70 year old wigs off of the thing. Good grief they looked like the wicked witch had been scalped and stitched on to this old horse.

Then after it was all clean, I started painting.... and painting. Well it's been two days and I'm still painting. This thing has more detailed spot on it than I realized but I really wanted to see if I could make my own custom carousel horse for my child. Something that would look like what you see at Six Flags or at a Carnival. A really nice one! So after four coats of gold spray paint that is for outdoor use on plastic and then me spending 12 hours painting the saddle a bunch of irredesant shades of red, blue and purple. It's almost done...

Would anyone like to see it? I'm pretty surprised with how it's coming. It's not quite done yet but I will probably finish it tomorrow and can post some pictures by Friday.

Have any of you ever made a custom carousel horse? I know many of you customize MLP. But what about something bigger? Like rocking horse size?

Oooo! I would adore seeing it! Pictures please!

I have an old 60s bouncy horse that I'm sanding and about to paint. Or mosaic, I haven't quite decided yet. I have far more projects than time, really. It has molded hair, and I'll have to putty the holes where it had wood through it and such.

Your kiddo is going to scream in delight when you present her with her new best friend!

I would love to see photos I have

To old rocking horse that have been in my shed for years I have had a chance to fix them up

Awesome!

That is so neat. I wish my mom was more creative like that. Though I can see the time being an issue. I sowed like 6 bandanna's yesterday. I been trying to make them for my big brothers. My kid likes to wrestle me into making crafts sometimes. I seem to be the one that does most of the craft especially since I won't allow her near a glue gun yet. Good luck with restoring your new big horse.

Meee! I do!
