First day post-op all alone. Let's see how this goes. I'm still swollen, but not too bad.

Feel better soon

I’m probably the only weirdo who opened the pic and zoomed in to check out the healing as much as possible. Lol

But yes!! You have got this and you are already doing amazingly great. Keep it up and you will be up and going in no time!

I deleted the photo.
If the situation were reversed, I'd open the picture, too. Anatomy, surgical techniques, and how everything is done fascinates me. I just made it small in case some would rather not see. I get my stitches out on Friday and most of the tape has fallen off, so I'll post one more before it's completely healed over.

Also, for @Skybreeze I've been on a pretty much liquid diet. Smoothies, water, Gatorade, bubbly water, and the occasional soda or milkshake. When I eat solid food it's so hard to swallow that it feels like everything should be coming out of the incision. Ew. I'm also off all pain meds for 48 hours now.

I opened the picture ;)

YAY about the church, but I also could have brought a turkey. I have one sitting in the freezer. You must be dying for real food by now. Congrats on being off the pain meds.

I'm mostly on a liquid diet. It is really hard to swallow still.

I've been losing little pieces of tape all day.... apparently I scratch at it while I sleep, plus the shower water running down it. It's looking rather ew. Fascinating.

Did they give you more to put on?

I'm another who gets up close and checks out wounds. Working with all sorts of wounded critters I get pretty nosy when it comes to injuries. We'll have to form a "Dang We All Gross" club! LOL

I'm so happy this is healing so well, and so quickly. This is going to open up your range of motion and things will be SO GOOD when you can get back to doing. I am so glad it's all gone so well.

And I'll second the YAY! How kind of them to bring you guys grub. Some people are so kind, it makes you proud!

It definitely helps knowing that there are good people within reach... My elderly neighbor was going to invite us to a thanksgiving meal at his church, but cars=bad right now. Every little jostle. <shudder>

I would definitely be a part of the "dang we gross club".

Post op went well! They even made me a 1/4 inch taller! Lol. They said that the operation took two hours longer than usual because my bone spurs were so big. They also said that I made them all giggle while I was coming out of anesthesia (I come out very quickly). I'm allowed to move freely as long as I listen to my pain. No actions that may jolt my neck. My weight limit was raised to 7lbs per hand or 15lbs with both hands. I'm allowed to use my stationary bike and do some pt. No lifting past shoulder height.

I would definitely be a part of the "dang we gross club". Mostly due to the animals my cats left dissected on the carpets and nobody else being able to stomach cleaning up. Also all my own injuries, pets and family's injuries, and working in the meat and seafood departments. Once I had a mole on my arm. It'd been there as long a I could remember. Then my sister decided to tear it off with her fingernail. It grew back, but it was blue. My mom had it removed and it was benign, but I got to watch the removal, and it was so fascinating.

I remember my OBGYN laughing when I was having my emergency C-section when Action Hank was born. I was laughing and trying to watch the procedure in the mirrored reflection of the overhead light. I said he'd never have anyone laugh during surgery, but i was so excited to have my baby, surgery or not and I wanted to see them bring him out. It was very odd, even though I'd gotten an epidural, I could still feel them tugged on me and realized, that was him cutting me open! Heh. So I laughed. None of it mattered, because I wanted my baby so bad.

And I'm a gore hound, even if the gore is me. :D

Yahooo! Soon you'll be able to do things you've been dying to do forever! This is terrific news!

I'm the same. Only Evelyn came out the intended orifice and I'm flexible enough that I could see her come out without a mirror. I was induced and had back labor. Several years before Evelyn, I let the paramedic in training practice putting an iv in on me. He tried so many times and was not successful. The nurses were so apologetic, but he asked my permission first.

I'm gross too!! I routinely perform surgery on myself :D

I take out my own stitches and pick at wounds. Childbirth is a no go zone for me. Too gross, even for me ;) At least you get something nice at the end of it.

Admittedly I mostly skimmed through posts, my new job is kicking me in the brain and I’m very zombie like today.

But I’m so happy that things are working out and your on the fast track to being a more mended you. Also, it sounds like you have a great community around you and Evelyn. So sweet of them to help you with your Thanksgiving.

I am in the We gross group as well...it’s been my life for most of my life it’s all like second nature to me now. Fun fact, a woman at my new job cut her finger bad in the lunch room. I was the only one who was able to handle it, I actually used my dog first aid kit to clean and “suture” her finger (I have tape closures in my kit from working years of surgery in veterinary clinics). She got to the hospital and they were apparently very impressed with my handy work so much so they decided not to suture her and leave what I did. Now my work wants me to be apart of their health and safety comity.
