I really hate it... it's NOT My Little Pony at all! I would like it and all if it was supposed to be something else, but for them to expect me to associate that with MLP... just disappointing... :(
 
This one looks horrible, but she is called an allicorn, in thinking i spelled that right. >.< the pictures from the toy show looked so much cuter

Please tell me the eyes are not flat! That is one of my biggest pet peeves with toys is when the eyes are just painted on a flat surface and not molded.

Not sure if I would buy this particular one though, I'm not a huge fan of mechanisms in plastic ponies or fabric wings.

I like the Pegasus artwork though. :eek:k:


I am however NOT feeling the new logo.
 
....I wish I hadn't looked at this before bed....now I'm going to have nightmares of that monstrosity all night.

MLP no longer look like Ponies. I have to agree with Alice on that. They kinda look like aliens...mixed with barbies...mixed with vomit.

Don't Forget: My Little Ponys are toys, meant to make children happy and encourage their imaginations, not to satisfy long-time adult collectors. (They do release exclusives for you "Serious" collectors. :blah:pBBBT! So there!)

The Unipeg is really cute, and I was so happy to see that she comes with brushable hair. I love anime and I can see so many way to customizing that one into many kinds of Bishonen Pony-boys!

I really like the way she looks even though she appears to be made of a harder plastic, (Which is fine with me) what made me snort however is that she 's got seam lines on her legs and stuff, cheaper? maybe, but will that make her more affordable? I hope so, I am planing on getting a bunch of her if Hasbro releases her. I am so smitten with her.
 
I think she's cute. And did anybody stop to think that maybe she's a 'Deluxe' figure? My theory is that since she has a button on the side, her wings flap. Maybe there will be a 'normal' release of her as well, maybe not.

And for the people who don't like the style of the body, you could always make/get a custom of the character in a different mold.

I personally can't wait, and I am soo calling the names 'Rainbow Streak' and 'Rainbolt' for the blue Pegasus!!
 
It has the original Star Catcher's wings. So, is that going to be in the next MLP movie. Sorry to ask, it's just that I've never heard of this pony until now. :scratch:
 
I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this. Well, on ANY pony really. Personally I'm baffled by the constant re-inventing of ponies, logos etc. I think maybe I missed something. Were the ponies before core 7 not selling well? Were core 7 not selling well? Were 3.5s not selling well?

I'm not sure if I like this pony or not. Being a G1 collector predominately I prefer ponies that look more like PONIES than weird big heads and tiny muzzles. But that is just my opinion :)
 
That unipeg looks awful. First of all, she looks evil. I'm hoping this means she's the villain, but still, I don't want an evil pony. She doesn't even really look like a pony since her proportions look way exaggerated. Her neck looks way too long, her head is way too small and her eyes are too big. And she barely has a nose (muzzle?) at all. I also don't like hard plastic ponies. I hope this doesn't mean all the other ponies are going to look this messed up. I also hate the logo.

The blue rainbow pony looks ok, but I'm not sure she'll translate to a decent looking toy, especially after seeing that monstrosity in the first pic. What is with the pony's muzzle being so tiny? It's not a cat, it's supposed to be a horse. Has the artist never seen a horse before? It just ruins it for me. My hopes aren't very high for the new show or for the new toys.

There are a lot more negative things to read out there than these threads. Not reading them at all doesn't really help. I personally like knowing what other people's opinions are.

I do like the new pony (whether or not they actually release it, not sure)

Also, my friend's 4 year old daughter loves ponies and does not like any new ones. She's not the only kid I know who hates them. She wants the old ones just like a collector would. Her mom in the meantime looks in thrift stores to find the old ones.

If you read everything though there's about a half/half split here of people wjo like and dislike t he new look here. Plus, if you read through rverything they say, some are "negative" over one thing but like another. Like myself-I agree that hte new style isn't really MLP, but i'm liking it and am looking forward to getting one to customize. It's just the logo redesign I hate.

They keep rebranding the entire line whenever the redo the molds and the logo. That's why i think these new ones should be offically dubbed as G4s (that and it's entirely new story, location, and cast), but this isn't the place to discuss that so Idk why i started ^^;

But to just ignore peoples' oppinions isn't fair. many make good points, and if you don't agree with the points, it's still best to aknowledge that they are some good points and just polietely disagree, ya know.

I'm all for hoping that the giant thing is a deluxe figure-she seems really big to be a regular sized one anyways. and the seems on her legs is probably because she's mechanical; reglar plastic ones shouldn't have the seams and be made from other plastic. but that's justt my oppinion.

I'll buy her. I love MLP, and she is MLP. Besides, she is a whole new species for MLP (the first Alicorn, yes?) so I think the liberties they took in her design are ok. I remember not liking TE's and Perfume Puffs, SHS, G2's, G3's and G3.5's when they came out. I came around to love them all. So I am going to try to not judge until I have them in hand.

As for the logo.....meh. I don't really care about that. I can't wait to see the series. I hope I get the HUB when it starts this fall.

PS: As for negative attitudes.....what fun would this site be if we all liked the same thing? Calling people out without tact is just as negative as someone knocking the design. That's just my 2 cents. :)
 
my first impression is that since the G3's tortured all the "old" G1 collector's out there with over-cutesy-fying their childhood world it's time for all the "old" G2's to have their style of childhood pony twisted and made new...

since I missed the G1 phenomenon being "too big for toys" I only got into Hasbro's "evil" world in 2008 given the age of my girls (2+4 at the time) and they were phasing out all of the cool G3 that I really liked for that core 7 nonsense... so like previos posts, thank goodness for thrifts, craigslist, ebay and finally MLPTP to get more G3 and more importantly/recently G1 ponies into our house
:) so honestly, if momma's guiding any of the future pony purchases = as cute as the alien/anime style is to some = we have plenty of other ponies to play with, and my office shelves are now full to bursting ... but who knows - maybe with a cool story-line TV show or something else to draw the kids to her we might be still prime targets to get into this alicorn's universe... just tell Hasbro to add some dang boy pony character's back into things !!

I used to think the G1 Collector Pose looked kind of depressed. I'm still not crazy about G3.5s, but I have my rep (Starsong, lol). I'm a Lauren Faust Foster's/Powerpuff fan, so I pretty much dig her take on MLP and I'm totally getting the new ones! So glad she has brushable hair!! :D
 
Everyone has a right to their opinion, positive or negative.

For me, I don't like these new ponies, but then I have never liked the huge-eyed, distorted and cutsy-beyond-belief style. But I do respect that other people like that style and there's nothing wrong with liking it. It's just not my cup of tea.

I do wonder (as others have) what the button on the unipeg's hip does, though. I'm guessing something lights up (doesn't seem to be likely though), she flaps her wings, or she talks. Or maybe she shoots glitter-filled water out of her horn (joking).

I wonder if the pegasus is the new version of Firefly?

I think I'd have been terrified of that thing as a kid - the very thing that attracted me to MLP was that they always 'smiled' at me when I was feeling down. This one would give me nightmares if I turned the light out and saw her standing on a shelf opposite me!

She does look cheaply made too, although I'd hope that's just the prototype. The final product usually looks a lot better than what we see in the adverts.

Still, not my kind of thing, and certainly not a MLP in my eyes. Such a shame, I had high hopes for this TV series and the toy line to go with it, but it seems they've all been dashed now. I just wish they'd bring back the G3 poses (heck, even just the Core Seven 'clone pose'!) but with new characters. I love some of the characters they've designed for this new show (that little blue pegasus would be adorable if they only made a toy that looked like a MLP!), I just can't stand to see them made to look like aliens!

And the logo... Kind of sad, really, with the little pink and purple 'rainbow' there. Almost like a reminder of what the line used to be before they messed it up. :frown:

I used to buy every pony that came out, whether I liked that particular character or not. Now I just don't bother - if I see them at car boots, I'd probably pick them up, but I wouldn't buy them at full price. And this thing and the Sleep and Twinkle Star Song scare me so much that I don't think I could take them in even if someone came and left them on my doorstep! :icon_smile_lachuh:

I'm only clinging on to the hope that they've kept Pinkie Pie's original voice for the TV series (which doesn't really seem likely now that it's being recorded down in California)... if they haven't, I think I'm officially through with MLP. It's so sad that something that gave me so much pleasure all these years has been ruined like this. Oh well, at least I'll be able to save for some of the G1s and G2s I'm still looking for! :)
 
The new winged unicorn . . . what. I'm okay with her IF she is a villain. If she's supposed to be a hero/regular MLP, uhhhh, no.

I like the blue pegasus, my guess is she's a homage to Firefly. One of the artist's DeviantArt posts previously had an image of Firefly she drew, but later she said she couldn't use her for the show due to copyright reasons.

In other news, I'm going to post this every time someone implies collectors shouldn't complain about Hasbro's toylines:

Edit: Almost forgot to add . . . the new logo is a hideous embarrassment. Hearts in the middle of the "o" and the "p"? Really? REALLY?

Also, although I don't like the winged unicorn, she is better than the G3.5s. At least I can tell she's a horse.

And finally, an alicorn is not a winged unicorn, it's actually the technical term for a unicorn's horn. :)
