Oh great pony advice gods, please lend me your ears! UnU

I recently got into ponies (as you can see. Fresh account and all) and I got a surprisingly good shape Princess Silver Rain recently in the mail from France (Both eye crystals, literally no body discoloration, excellent condition of cutie mark, no rubbing). Her hair was already pretty scraggly in her original listing, but I figured I could remedy it.
(Here's her original mugshot if you will haha)

Alas! It's been days and no such luck. I originally washed her hair with clear Suave, combed it, and then flat-ironed it while it was till wet and heavily saturated with conditioner. The next morning it was better, but still puffing up after drying, and with frayed ends. After this point I tried an all-night conditioner soak, washing it off, and then dunking in boiling water for 10 second intervals before combing. Still no luck.
The most recently, I let her have a 24 hour soak in fabric softener water with her head elevated on a chopstick above the glass so her eye crystals wouldn't get coated. Then, I washed this out, and did light dunks in softener water before running segments over with my flat iron at the lowest heat. It looked stupendous before I went to sleep! Then in the morning, when it dried and I untied it from her legs, it went back to being a fluffy mess (although it does smell like a fragrant wonderland)! So now I just have it in braids. But I still wish I could make her sleek for longer than it takes her locks to dry.

I don't know frankly if I'm making it worse, or maybe I'm doing something wrong here. Do you think perhaps my flat iron or water isn't hot enough? Obviously I'm very afraid of melting, but at the same time that's what I'm worried I've done to her (for reference, my flat iron was around 80 degrees, somewhere below 100, and the water was removed from the burner when it was bubbling fast, but not at a rolling, foamy boil). Frankly, it would be one thing if the ends only were still fuzzy, I would expect that for her original condition and age, but it seems no matter what I do her hair is bone-dry and rough! Her flyaway tinsel doesn't help matters, but at least it doesn't curl and burn like G3's.

Does anybody have any advice? :( I'm frankly losing hope. Her braids don't look bad persay, but you can REALLY see in some parts of the texture and. Obviously, uh... the ends.... that she looks a bit worse for wear. My most recent idea has been to use some of the smoothing frizz/shine serum I use after the shower in her water-soaked hair with the flat iron, but I'm worried she'll have the post-spa-poofs again. Any wisdom from people more educated on such matters than me is more than welcome. Here's a little shot of Silver Rain now for the diagnosis.

Sorry for rambling. Again, any help is appreciated!

Thanks for your time,

Her poofy ends don’t actually look that bad.

But, what I’ve used for stubborn dry pony hair is coconut oil saturating it with the oil and leaving it for 24+ hours depending on how dry the hair is. Then I shampoo and condition again after. And I never fully rinse out the conditioner. Leaving a small amount should help keep it nice. Once it’s dried I run the hair straightener on it’s lowest setting over it quick once or twice. Then I wrap around legs to help everything set for a week or two (or forever lol).

You also need to make sure you’ve brushed out all the knots in the hair before you do all this and comb through each time you add a new product. Otherwise it will just frizz more.
