"Restoring" New G4s?

Hello! I have never done any kind of restoration before; almost all of my ponies are bought new since I didn't have any in childhood. My pre-2014 G4s are all still in excellent condition ^_^
As a result I have no idea what to do with unpleasant pony hair. All my 2015+ G4.0s have a "greasy" texture (middle pinkie in below pic, plus 2 twilights and some others) and my G4.5s are unmanageably frizzy :( They all came out of the box like that, so it's not from excessive play or poor care. I've looked at restoration tutorials, but they all picture well-used G1s or G3s, and I worry that the same methods won't work on my G4s due to the hair obviously being a different material. Does anyone have any advice for getting my newer ponies display-able?

What I would do is give the hair a wash w/ soap and conditioner and if its frizzy, I will have my flat iron on very low ( you don't want to burn the hair!!) and quickly straighten out the ponies hair. Hope this helps :)

Pretty much this! Also, maybe try leaving in the conditioner for about a few minutes/hours? That could work as well

Either the G4’s and G4.5’s I’ve found that the best de-frizz is wash with shampoo and conditioner then leave to soak in coconut oil for a few hours or more depending on the level of frizz. Then do one more round of conditioner leaving a bit in the hair. Then with an older hair straightener used on the lowest setting do a quick run over the hair.

I’ve had a lot of success getting beautiful rests with this process on all my G4 & G4.5. Just be very careful with the G4.5’s hair and straightener as some have different hair that does melt even at lowest setting (usually the Seaponies).

Thanks for the advice guys! Do you know what temperature you've had success with G4.5 hair? I have a straightener that goes down to 120°C but I could use hot water if that's too much. I'm confident the G4.0 hair will come out nice with just a wash but the G4.5 seems to be a totally different plastic.

My straightener has 1-5 settings on it so I am not sure the temperature ... I’ll see if I can find the directions but 120 sounds like a good temp. Like you said, I completely agree that G4.5 is different to deal with!

I think the straightener that I use on my ponies goes down to 100 and it slightly started to melt a G4.5 hair (fashion size sea pony RD). I’ve read that others have had the same issues with other G4.5’s.

Then I also did my Cadence from the very first run of her and Shining Armor for G4.5 and she cleaned up perfect.

Thanks guys! I'll give 'em all a bath and then try my luck with hot water on the frizzy ones ^_^
