Hello everypony:)

I would just like to say something, and maybe get some feedback, advice or just some nice words....
As most of you know by now, I am from South Africa. I am so sad, (and maybe a tad depressed) to see the prices that G1 ponies have gone up to in my country:( They are all starting at $11 now and going up from there. It is making me sad that people are just trying to make as much money as they can from us collectors. I have seriously started considering giving up collecting ponies because of this, but I can't seem to step over that line and let my little herd go. I love them too much! So I might just keep them and cut my losses and squash down my dreams, of one day owning any of my grails.
That is all that I wanted to say.........I will be going now, to hold my existing herd and cry a little bit for those I will possibly never have.

Don't stop collecting. It's the Americans fault and choice if they want to overspend. If people refuse to pay the higher price then prices will go down.

i also find a lot of sellers are charging more but as a buyer i just do not buy from them. also i find when people do price checks a lot of time they over value the item. not to mention ebay prices in my opinion are not to be held as the "accurate" price of the pony. bidding wars happen and it ruins the value of the pony / item.

Thanx everyone for the inspiring words:)
Tak, I don't think it has anything to do with Americans, or anybody from other countries ^^ I think it is just because it is difficult to find ponies in my country and there have been a few bid wars where the prices have shot up quite high. Now the people who just buy and sell ponies think they have hit the jackpot and charge as much as they can. These ponies are not even in mint condition! They have frizzy hair or pen marks or discoulered bodies, it is rediculous! One or two I have seen could be counted as bait an they were trying to get $11 for it. Ug! I am talking about ordinary ponies here that you can find anywhere, not the rare SA ponies. I know that those are worth a lot, but that is because they are rare. I refuse to pay $11 for a bait Posey for example. But you are right, I will wait for a better deal to come around. As they say, good things come to those who wait.
You are all lovely people:)

Ah, I would like to clarify that I'm not bashing Americans as I am one myself. ;) I've just seen so much money thrown away. I might be a little jaded.
Either way, I try to keep my own prices low. It's about spreading some pony love, not making money. :D
If you would like to do a trade/swap, I love those, and meeting new people from other countries. Just let me know.

Oo, and I love your signature pony.

Yea this just goes in waves. Eventually some ponies just lose popularity and then grab them at lower prices. I kind of think this is what makes collecting fun. If you never had a challenge searching for a deal where would the joy be in grabbing that must have for a deal?

I think it makes it hard to find a bargain at times. I know ebay is overpriced but I can't stay away from it. ><: its like a train-wreck that I can't look away from. Prices on ebay and other sites are very high. Best bet is to collect through here whenever possible. I found some great deals on here and mlparena.

I agree with you on this. And I would collect or trade here solely if I could, but because most of the members here are from other countries than my own it poses a problem. The postage prices to and from my country makes it almost impossible:( That is why I give the option to send the plushies I make stuffed or un-stuffed. It makes it less expensive for the buyer where postage is concerned, but maybe a bit of a pain to have to then stuff it yourself when it gets there. It was the best idea I could come up with:/

There is nothing wrong with trying to cut costs for other buyers. Whatever they may prefer.

This is a common complaint in many countries, and I would bet happens with more collectibles than just ponies. It sounds like you also have a supply and demand problem since shipping would be so high to buy internationally. I don't know what to do except save up and buy things here and there. I actually have been worried lately that the pony market is going down. It kept going up and up and up and I knew that couldn't last forever. Hopefully I'm wrong, but when I can't sell a Red Roses easily, I worry.

Ditto! I have been having a hard time selling some harder to find ponies lately even at discounted prices....

Well I dont think we are at the pony hot months yet which is April-May. Sept-Nov-Dec are the months. I wrote this down somewhere. :) Though Red Roses is should be a easy pony to sell. :/ Sorry your having such trouble.

Can someone explain to me why April-May is high for pony purchases? Spring fever?
