Me and evilbunnyfoofoo we’re talking about this: it seems like some versions of Secret Wishes have sparkles, while others don’t. Does anyone know why?

Word on the grapevine says that when Divine Shines age, they break down, get sticky and sort of, I dunno destroy/eat/dissolve their glitter. Why this happens when the G1 Sparkle Ponies still retain their shimmer and glimmer I couldn't tell you? Chemistry was never my subject.

The Divine Shine ponies are notorious for plasticizer leakage. Nothing you can really do when one is in active breakdown but keep cleaning periodically until all of the goo has leaked out. Storing separately from other ponies with silica gel packets can help to preserve them.

Here's Secret Wish 10 years ago.

And here's how she lives now. The lighting is different, but you can see how she's turned orange and dull, and her glitter is dissolving. She's not breaking down anymore, nor are my others, sealed in baggies with gel packets. It makes me so sad because the G1 Sparkle Ponies are one of my favorite sets, and I was so excited when these were released in G3.

That is so bizarre! Thanks for the photos! I heard someone mention this in regards to G1 Glow N Shows- can that happen as well? I am hoping not!

Mine is fine. Plus the translucent G1s are made of better stuff I guess. Are you sure you aren't thinking of G2 Hip Holly?
