Hello everyone!
So here I have (excuse quite the morbid picture but she needed quite the urgent clean) My starshine!

as you can see she is pretty darn yellow and I’m new to pony restoration and wanted someone’s suggestions as what i should to for her to bring back her lovely white coat!
Her cutie mark also has some brown stuff around it that kind of looks like rust?? But also not?

And I was wondering if there’s a way to stop/get rid of that also. Please feel free to leave some suggestions/advice on anything as I am learning and I want to be able to help future ponies I come across too.

Unfortunately it looks like she’s got a few issues going on here. the brown spots within her symbols look to be rusting spots which is common in glitter symbols on G1, especially Starshine.

then you’ve got “smooze” which is basically like black heads in the pony’s vinyl. This takes a lot of scrubbing to get out. I find using some soap and oxiclean works the best to get it out of the tiny pores.

Then, highlighted in yellow here - it looks like she’s got sun burn. And highlighted in blue looks like pony cancer spots. :(

the best way to truly attack all these problems would be a good oxiclean bath and a Hydrogen Peroxide/sun bath(soak). This process will fade paint and take the glitter off (remove her tail) but it will help to not only whiten but kill the spores effecting you’re pony’s vinyl.

I suggest reading the articles on the link @Truly_Scrumptious provided to help you along as well.

Thank you so much! The diagrams helped a lot! Actually didn’t realise that there was spores that needed to be killed off, what kind of hydrogen peroxide would you recommend considering there’s like different strengths if I am thinking correctly

I use 100% that I get from Walmart. It’s cheap and I stock up on it and I have found glass jars work better than plastic. ;) (dollar store is great for cheap pony soaking jars)

I can't wait to see how she turns out!

So, as it turns out it’s actually illegal in the UK go purchase hydrogen peroxide with a strength larger than 12% but that should do the trick anyway right?

That’s interesting. It should it just might take a bit longer in the soak.
Yeah the laws were introduced because I suppose people in the UK were using it to try to bleach and whiten their teeth at home and obviously if you injest a High concentrated version of hydrogen peroxide it can cause some serious damage. So they’ve kept it to “food grade” levels such as 3% to 12%

Sometimes I don’t understand the human population. Honestly, how have we as a species survived so long? Lol Whaaaaaat?

I’d offer to send you some but it would probably get stopped at customs in fear you might whiten your teeth.:lolpony:

That’s kind of you to offer. It’s illegal to even possess it hahaha. It’s insane I’m surprised we haven’t stopped our own race yet from all the silly things we do. Now I can’t do something as innocent as bleaching my ponies. What is this???
I suppose I’ll have to settle for 12% but I wonder how much longer it will take for it to work.
