'The Last Roundup' Re-released With Derpy Changed

Wow.....just wow, Just shows ya that if enough peoples cry "foul" things get changed.

Personally, I liked that RD was little less mean. I didn't like that her name "Derpy hooves" got took out, it was like a sudden denial of the fans! And Her eyes! Why fix her eyes?! That's what made her unique!!

TAF TJ: I like your thinking. Wouldn't a disabled pony in the show teach a good lesson about acceptance and ignorance?

I would rather have a handicapped pony around, than to be in a world where they are out of sight, therefore out of mind.

Heeey you know, I like your idea too, AJ!

It reminds me of a PBS cartoon called Dragon Tales, where the kids in the show travel to a magical land and meet dragon friends. One of the dragons is in a wheelchair. Yeeeah I'll be the first to admit it doesn't really work if you think about it too hard... I mean, where did he get the chair and why doesn't he just fly like the other dragons? Or maybe his wings and legs both don't work... Anyway, my point is, at least there are cartoons out there that work to include handicapped characters for the kids to see and experience.

It doesn't seem like Derpy was intended to be a handicapped character, but I would like to see a pony who was intended to be that way. :)

My bro picked up the friendship express DVD and the Last Roundup episode wasn't changed :D It still has Derpy and her cute voice, needless to say we were both happy :RotCol:

They didn't quite completely 'un-derp' her eyes, it's just more subtle case of lazy eyes than normal.

Although i don't think of Derpy as disabled and didn't even make that assumption when i saw the episode, i do think this is a good idea. Thats why i liked her clumsiness because, like Derpy, I am crazy clumsy (i have dyspraxia) I'm forever dropping things or bumping into things (i have zero spatial awareness lol) So it made me laugh so much to see a pony doing the exact same things that i do ^_^ Thats why i like her appearance in 'feeling pinkie keen' because the look she has on her face when everything drops that just looks like 'whoops....sorry about that' with the forced grin on her face is totally like me lol. I do hope they keep her as she is but make the other ponies more tolerant of her to keep people happy.

Personally, I think the whole thing's been overblown by both sides. I personally prefer the new voice and the name Ditzy Doo, but I don't think the people who hate it are 'wrong' in having thier opinions. In the larger context of the show as a whole, it's not enough to get upset over.

1. I wish Dash had called her 'Derpy'.

2. Her new voice is fine, but I personally think the old voice was too silly and the new one's too unsilly. They need to combine the two.

I cringed the first time I heard Derpy talk. She sounded mentally challenged. I'm glad they changed the voice to sound a bit more normal.
