Even /mlp/ has started to realize it. And that place is full of optimistic people that keep saying things like "Well, maybe the other episodes of this season will be better" and "Maybe once the writers finish watching the show, they'll stop writing characters OOC".

I started to feel the similar way, some pony episodes were great however others were redundant. It would be cool if they came up with some new stories and characters.
I would really like it if they made a episode of the villains childhood, what caused them to turn to a life of evil. That would be cool.
Or maybe the princesses past of their childhood too. That would be cool as well. We do get a bit. However they were not born as Alicorns, So how did they earn their wings.

I remember an episode where twilight said that ''ponies know very little about dragons because apparently they are too rare or too scared to study.''

That is was caused me brainstorm and come up with a what if one pony was lost in the deep dark woods, got chased by the wild creatures in the forest, fell down a ditch, her leg was caught in a rock side. And she was in distress. A dragon above saw the whole incident, however he chose to save her, from a dangerous situation. This starts a beautiful friendship, that later grows into a relationship that later results in the very first pony/dragon Hybrid. I know I'm spoiling the story about my OC character Crystal Frost.

I often ponder to what would be racing through Twilight mind if she came across a pony that looked like a dragon too. Hybrid, Knowing her she would be so excited to see a new species and want Spike to document everything, however when spike sees that the creature of discovery has dragon features, he warns Twilight they should both leave, in fear of the Childs dragon parent being close by.

However if the MLP FIM is to keep people interest they need more new characters and an awesome story background for them too.

That would be a perfect way to introduce Kirin Ponies.
 
I *think* that's a Chinese unicorn. If I remember right, they are brightly coloured, scaly, and benevolent, so Spike shouldn't have any reason to fear.
