Do't you think they are too much G3's whit butherflies as a symbols?

I like butterflies, but I want more imagination here.

How many are? lets see:

avalonia
fluttershy
doseydots
scootaloo
flitter flutter (two in the same set O-0)
wind song
sky whishes
florsytia (she has a little one)
hono-lu-lu
clound climber
flutter butter
bunches of fun
heather winds
thistle wistle....

Who else???
I wan originaliti here :x

Amen to that Diet! Huggles all the pink ponies :)

All I want are some dragonflies. Maybe start a whole line of those, never get tired of dragonflies ;)

I don't notice how many ponies have butterflies or how many ponies that are pink. I buy them and I love them.
And in Hasbros deffence... There is a pretty big variety in the ponies they do and they only just got started again.
Give them a break and just be happy with what you get, that's all I can say  It's either like 15 ponies (out of hundreads now) that has butterflies or it's no ponies at all.

I want hasbro to make new poses for the ponies. I lined up all my G3's and half of them have the same pose as Island Rainbow. I want new poses, the butterflies don't bother me, but I would like to see dragonflies :)

Okay Diet lets just compare the first 3 years of G1 and the G3's you've still got WAY more colour diversity, and symbol diversity, i don't think there were any sets in G1 that had two ponies with near the same symbol, in the same set.

Hasbro's quality in colour diversity and symbol imagination has gone down. i'd say almost 85% of their ponies are pink or purpleish.

Veren if you take the origional 6 as to the Origional 8. in the siz you have

CottonCandy - Pink
Butterscotch - Yellow/gold/orange whatever
Bluebelle - Blue/Purple
Snuzzle - GREY/pink
Minty - GREEN and white
Blossom - Purpel

Out of that set there are two one pink one purple

the eight you had

Rainbowdash - Blue with rainbow hair, definatley cool
Kimono - pink/purple
SunnyDaze - white with rainbow hair
Minty- Green with pink hair
Sweetberry - Purpleish pink with purple and blue hiar
Wysteria - purple with pink white and purple hair
Sparkle Works - orange with pink hair
Pinkie pie - self explanitory

EVERY SINGLE PONY out of thefirst 8 has PINK somewhere. everysingle one. The origional 6 managed to have less ponies with more diversity.

Even the rainbow ponies as compared tot he G3 rainbow ponies have much more diversity. I'm sorry to say Hasbros imagination is lacking as of late. G3's seem to be butterflies, Kites, strawberries and Flowers.

Give me planets! stars! random objects (whistles, beanies). Compas! anything the G3's are just way too girly girl LOL.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one :teeth:

I do like butterflies, but I want more unique G3 symbols like Summer shores, or food related symbols like Kiwitart :p

But I LIKE pink ponies, the pink body light blue hair is my second fav. combo :D *hugs Sweet breeze*

Now, now, everyone.... ponies were not originally made for collectors. They were made for little GIRLS who like PINK and BUTTERFLIES and PURPLE and all that stuff. You should be happy that Hasbro has even done as much as they have for us - look at this:

Points Program: Mainly for collectors.
New Pegasus: Because of collectors.
SDCC Pony: Mainly for Collectors.
Rarity the Unicorn (coming soon...): Because of collectors wanting Unicorns.
Plastic Tail Bolts: Because of Collectors.

... And that's just off the top of my head. There's probably more still.

Did you ever consider that? If you ask me, Hasbro has been very gracious to us in places where they could have never done anything for us at all.

Hello i was once a little girl and i can tell you that not every little girl *loves* pink. My sister for insatance is in love with Orange, she loves orange ponies with a passion and before you go off on me saying it wasn't made for collectors, She's 10.

And even she's confused as to why they mostly have the same colour combinations.

Diet calm down, first off i said pink or purpleish, not jsut pink. I'm not saying all pink ponies are the spawn of evil. I'm jsut saying i prefer the ones that aren't, for the most part. I love kimono, who is in my opinion a pink pony. I know it's a girls toy. This thread was just started as a coment of "my there are alot of ponies with butterflies" You don't have to take it so personal, No one said the ones with butterflies are BAD we just said there was alot of them. But if you can't read other peoples opinions without blowin' a gasket like that maybe you shouldn't respond to them?

Yuxie - I wasn't saying they did nothing for collectors. I was mearly pointing out the differences between G1's and G3's. Have you seen my collection? it's almost all G3's i wouldn't collect them if i didn't like them. I was just pointing out that the G1's had more variety. Which they did.

Maybe 85% was an exaduration, out of my 111 G3's 47% of them were pink or purple. That's a big chunk. I did the same poll on my G1's only 36% were pink or purple, and i do have alot of pink/purple ponies in my G1 collection. even just by my estimate 11% more are pink or purple in G3's.

Again, all i said was the G1's were more diverse. I'm not saying they shouldn't be pink or purple (heck purple is my favourite colour) i just said there was alot of it.

Edited because i wrote "half" instead of "have"

Oh, I'd disagree with that. The pegasi and unicorns aren't because of collectors; they're because pegasi and unicorns sell with little girls. The points program is not specifically meant for collectors and we don't really know if they are the ones using it the most. And non-rusting plastic washers would be more of a boon for children than collectors--collectors are less likely to bathe with their ponies every night and more likely to know to let them dry out. ;) (Plus Hasbro is only using the plastic washers sporadically; many of the newest ponies don't have them. Take it from someone who spent ten minutes prying the metal clasp off Citrus Sweetheart's tail for a custom.)

Hasbro really doesn't pander to MLP collectors at all. That's not necessarily bad, because the products they make are cute anyway, but I'm just sayin' . . .

The only "made for collectors" item I can think of are pre-release Bay Breeze and the SDCC pony (both of which were very nice, especially the SDCC one.)

Now, the Transformers line is a different story. There are far more TF collectors than MLP collectors, and I believe that TF collectors actually make up a pretty large percentage of the TF market (whereas the vast majority of MLPs are bought for little girls.) So they get reissues and homages through names, color schemes, and statistics, as well as several exclusive TFs at Botcon every year. In recent years there have been tons of TF G1 comics, plus tradepaperback collections of old comics. They're always talking about doing a G1 TF movie. I'm really very jealous of the TF community! ;)

Transformers fans are also the most demanding group of toy collectors I've ever come across . . . When one G1 TF was reissued--I can't remember if it was G1 Optimus Prime or Ultra Magnus--large groups of them flipped out because Hasbro had made the smokestacks on the vehicle mode larger (which they had to do to meet federal safety regulations.) OMG, NOT BIGGER SMOKESTACKS!! All I could think was, "Booooy, try being a MLP fan, guys." ;)

Archer - so what you're saying then is that it's okay for you to complain you don't like the reissue of pinkie pie, but if someone else brings up "wow there's alot of butterflies out there" it's a big heated discussion?

There are a few more passionate people about the G3 line. but it doesn't mean we are fueding at the teeth.

Diet - I've never met a young girl who liked burgandy, but there aren't many burgandy ponies out there iether lol.

Galaxy - the SDCC pony is the white pony with the pink hear, heart eyes and writing on her bum ;)

Well - first of all, the pegasi and unicorns were PROMPTED by collectors. I'd say if the collectors hadn't said anything, Hasbro wouldn't have produced them. Secondly - okay fine - maybe the Point Program ISN'T just for collectors. But what kind of little girl could wrack up the money for a giant Frilly Frocks plush? I wouldn't imagine that they ran out of supplies so much because of little girls. And thirdly - most little girls will not even CARE if their pony gets tail rust. The reason that they changed them to plastic is because the collectors complained. Collectors are the ones to buy the ponies from the second-hand market and have to clean the tail rust. Most little girls probably don't even know of any such thing.

And with that, I back out. I don't want to become part of some sort of flame war. Thank-you.

mavi - yeah, there's pretty much just cherry blossom, but then there are more orange ponies than burgundy ones. ;)

yuixie - i'm sure hasbro would have introduced pegs and unis eventually, with or without collectors. girls' toys and merchandise have always included magical creatures like pegs and unis. i do, however, have to COMMEND hasbro in sticking to their original timeline for the introduction of pegs and unis, rather than caving to pressure from collectors and throwing a bunch of them out there at once. i like this gradual progression better than "OMG PEGS AND UNIS OUT OF NOWHERE!" because it draws me into the storyline and keeps my curiosity piqued. what will rarity look like? will subsequent unicorns look like her or will she also be a OOAK "leader" uni like star catcher is for pegs? the anticipation is killing me, but it would just be boring if we had it all right now.

Point taken.

Don't you just hate it when hasbro has something in mind and they tell you it's name and all you can do is WONDER!
