Hey everyone! I boiled my Galaxy today, and noticed she developed cracks (at least I think. I don't remember them before but its possible they were, or grew) and was wondering if anyone else experienced this? I didn't directly boil her-just her legs. But there was steam.

Do you mean cracks in her eye gems? :s

It is hard to see but I think I can see that your talking about.

Unfortunately the integrity of the gems on the Twinkle Eyed ponies isn’t the most reliable. I do know that boiling, freezing, Oxiclean, and some other commonly used cleaners can effect the eyes in different ways. Most commonly they cause eyes to loose the shimmer effect and if the eyes already had the tiniest imperfection in it, boiling can cause it to literally crack under pressure. With TE’s I personally only surface wash with Luke warm water (or cold) and I am still very cautious around the eyes.

Weird that just steam would do it though. She was covered with a towel- (Not Locket, just Galaxy) Locket already had issues so this is no surprise.
Any kind of sudden heat and pressure can do it. It’s like if you put a cold glass into heat it will break. It sucks sometimes that they are so fragile sometimes, I have seen replacement eyes on Etsy sometimes that look pretty great.

Cool! I'm too lazy tho :p Luckily Galaxy is fine, it could be no different and i'm just overreacting. thank you!

If they don't actually crack and it's just the finish there are some nail polishes that can restore the sheen and strengthen the gem for very little. I've never tried to restore a cracked one.
