What are you up to?

Yesterday I did yardwork in the backyard and put in applications. Today I'll be doing more yardwork, applications and working on customs.

Redyed my hair purple. Mom took me for a coffee. Watch forge in fire with my dad.

I can, luckily, still work a bit in my home (I am a costume designer), so I spend my days working and also really take down time to relax and stay well. Both me and my best friend with whom I share my house are in a 'risk group' so we are extra careful. I spend time here :lolpony:, figure out my Pony collection that still needs a lot of work, I sometimes paint, draw, read, watch movies and plan to work on some more costumes and dayclothes for myself :D

Organizing my haunted doll/object books, ghost stories, and books on Lizzie Borden and Pompeii etc.

What kind of costume designer are you?

I am still working, but not working as usual... Our dance studio closed the doors almost two weeks ago, so no actual contact is happening with our students and families. But mid last week we started creating and filming coursework for online virtual classes. Those opened to the students online on Monday and we are both navigating interacting with them - figuring out if they are doing it/answering questions - and making more content for next week.

Honestly it has been so much work to put the videos together, edit them, and upload them to the platform we are using, I don't think I've done much else in the last week. I did sit in the sun by the pool the other day. That was enjoyable.

Hoping now that I sort of have a routine figured out for the class filming thing I can start working on dance costumes and other projects again. We shall see...

I got up and cooked today. Salmon, rice, and yellow squash for dinner, and cupcakes baked for dessert. Nom, nom, nom. Yeah, I need to loose weight. Eh, I'll get it later. Lots of yard work to do. I kinda wish I had "just dance" for the switch. That would be some fun cardio with my girl.

Legit just vibing. Been drawing a bit, playing video games, zoning out, listening to music, talking to friends, catching up on anime/manga, etc. The usual stuff, y'know?

After my misadventure crossing the border and getting put off work and onto isolation, my mood sunk pretty low. I was already in a very bad place as there was a significant hiccup in my police application and I took it very badly.

My upstairs neighbour makes noise all day and half the night. Loud noise. Really loud. Continuous for hours. I’ve been depressed and on edge. Fortunately, I’ve been getting help to cope through my EAP. I go back to work on Saturday, as I’m essential service. I work in a dangerous environment and if Covid gets in, we’re screwed.

I’ve spent the last two weeks trying to cope with my ever deteriorating situation. I’ve been walking/hiking or running 10-20 km a day, reading, doing yoga and weights and cleaning the house. I have been giving myself a pass to do nothing on days when I’m struggling, but I still get out to at least walk.

You're pretty amazing, you know? Here I am, no cardio.

What a lot of work to film your classes! But also; great solution! Love it! And awesome that you have a dance studio :)
Me and my best friend have a little company and we sew replicas of all kinds of movie and theatre costumes and we design our own costumes too, all kinds of things really. Fairytale inspired, nature inspired and sometimes we are inspired by something excisting like Marvel. Our customers are theatres sometimes but mostly people that want to go to comic cons and fairs and stuff :D If you want I can pm you a link :)

I would LOVE to see the link to your stuff! In all my dance teaching and ballet productions, I have gotten pretty deep in the costuming side of things too. Not to the point of actually designing, but I really enjoy the process of choosing colors and shapes and helping to get them on stage. Currently working on an Alice in Wonderland inspired short ballet (20 minutes) that I'm making a few tutus for.

I started trying to rebox and localize my MLP collection into the back of our big closet rather than have it spread out all over. When you start looking at all the boxes and boxes and boxes of ponies, it gets a little overwhelming. Plus I keep thinking "You have wasted SO MUCH money on ponies!"

Then I see one I'm missing and hit eBay to shop for it. :D

I have some sort of storage obsession, bordering on hoarding. Shoe boxes, the plastic containers the laundry soap comes in, crystal light containers, if it's something you can store stuff in, I keep it. It does make everything tidy and I know where stuff is, but I literally have e shelf of just empty storage containers waiting for use. lol I went out and happily reorganized so they all fit last weekend.
