Are you new to variant/nirvana collecting, or an old hand who just loves to talk about 'em and share knowledge?

I'm pretty new to it myself, but have lurked in the arena forum and any nirvana related threads here and there enough to know that there is a whole 'nother world awaiting to suck my wallet dry (white Italian Raindrop for instance... oooooohhhhh). LOL I do't think I will become a huge collector of them, due to cost, but I'm quite happy to putter around with some more common and affordable (to me) ponies from other countries, and I love seeing pics of the variant acquisitions of the more dedicated collectors of them.

I like to admire the pretty pictures. my wallet and husband will never allow me to actually own most of the ones I covet most.

I have my little argie buttons that I need to restore, and then never let go again - but that'll probably be the extent of it. I also have an argie drink and wet still on the card that was a x-mas swap gift from PT, but that doesn't count 'cause I didn't buy her ;)

Honestly, aside from just learning more about variants, I came here to get involved with the more serious collecting community. I mean absolutely no disrespect to our newer members getting into the recent FIM and fandom craze- it just isn't my bag.

Also, any G2 experts here? I love G2s but haven't done any research on variants. I know about blue haired Ivy and a couple of the large prototypes that somebody around here owns... So, just thought there might be more fun stuff out there!

Like buddafly, I'm here to see pretty pics :3 Plus, it's fun to learn new things. Who knows, maybe once I get a job I can buy some variants myself (a girl can dream lol)

I'm mostly here because of my love for the Fairy Brights, but now that I'm looking around I do like the Peru ponies. Maybe I might get one if the budget allows!

I'm not new to variant collecting, and I think the variant collecting community is really different from the "regular" community. I LOVE to look at pics and learn new things about never-before-seen ponies.

Agreed!!! ;)

I've been collecting for 14+ years & long since completed my US & UK released G1's. Other generations don't interest me as much, although I have some of each in my collection. With variants from around the world, it's impossible to complete them since there are some ponies where only 1 or 2 or even 5 are known to exist! I've been focusing my collection on international ponies for the last 5 years or so. I have over 400 G1's that are considered variants (I really need to do a full count of my g1's but with a 1 week old baby, my free time is severely limited, lol).

I'm from the rather sheltered world of American G3s, so I'm gonna try to broaden my horizons a little. Probably won't buy any variants though. Just lookin at pics.

I'm fairly new to variant collecting, and I only collect Argie Wingers. However, I am absolutely in love with seeing all the incredible variants out there!! There are a few collectors who blow me away with their incredible ponies.
I agree with Skeen, Nirvana lovers are different from the general collecting population; and that diversity brings a whole new and exciting element to the pony community. I am really pleased to see this forum being added to the MLPTP, and I look forward to the gorgeous photos and discussions to come!
Now bring on the pics:)

Ever since I grabbed up my first nirvana (Re Unicorno & his castle), I've been a little intrigued to say the least! Nirvana collectors are definatly a little different from the average collector, and I love learning all sorts of different things from them. Plus I like to look at all the pretty pictures :)

I like to stare at ponies that I'll never be able to afford. lol

I don't own any Nirvanas at the moment, but once my US and UK ponies are nearly or completely finished I will start to grab a few here and there, although I will probably never be able to afford any that I would consider grails.

I like looking at all the different color schemes so that I can hopefully recognize a variant when I see one in the wild. :p

Im not new to Nirvana ponies, but I'll admit I don't have a whole lot of them. Mainly due to the price of them. I just can't justify spending that much on one pony, especially if they have serious issues (which I see so many have on Ebay and such).

That being said I'd like to complete the Alternative Birthflower set at least. And get my hands on the Truly variants.

So far I have 14 Nirvanas and the collection isn't exactly growing at a high speed rate :p

BUT... money and so on aside, I love to gather as much info on them as possible, drool over the ones I don't have and dream that I will have them all one day when I win a couple of billions on the lottery :D (Maybe I should actually start playing the lottery which would make this easier to accomplish <.< >.>)

I have three italians, lol! But I love looking at all the variants, and knowing them when I see them! I got my first one as a freebie thrown into a G1 lot I bought, and then I saw two more going cheap, so I grabbed them, too... although I think I'll stick to the cheaper ones until I get closer to finishing all the US/UK ponies that I want!

Because I've always wanted a set of South Africans/Australian Birthflowers/G4 Prototypes.

But I never will get any South Africans/Australian Birthflowers/G4 Prototypes :(

I have been collecting G1 since I was about 5 years old, (My grandmother's fault, she bought the first one and the love affair was born!!!)

Most were in storage for quite a few years, then when I helped Mum clean out the stairwell, there were all my babies... So I thought I would restore the playsets... Then thought I would try to find ponies that were missing from my sets... Then look for sets/ponies that I wanted but never had... It has just kept growing!

I am now branching out, so to speak, into the variant world and I LOVE it! I find it is so helpful to be able to come here when I have ponies that I am completely not sure of, everyone is so great as I am completely new to variants so I really don't know much.

Having said that, I found a Mexi Peppermint Crunch at a garage sale (I am in New Zealand!!!!) for 20 cents! Also found a Dutch Singalong, I have two from Peru, four from Italy, (plus another one on the way) a prototype baby, a few UK exclusives like most of the Seven Tales set, a few mail orders, (do these count as variants??? I guess not but I like them!!! LOVE my Tux n Tails!!!) I have also just bought a factory flawed Posy, she is on her way to me now. Has perfect symbols on one side, the other side the flowers were never printed. Has the leaves and stems though, I think she would def count as a variant???

I have just put up a post as I have three ponies that I am not sure if they are variants or not, but they seem different to the others so I thought maybe someone here would be able to shed some light on my 'Mystery Ponies".

I just love the pony community here! I adore my G1 collection and I love that I can come here and talk to people who understand my fascination!
