We all have things we do at Christmas or whatever way you celebrate this time of year.
I was wondering if anyone did anything a certain way or a Unique thing that makes your holiday time special.

Also does anyone have any Christmas Talents? Sing, drawing, Gift wrapping, thinking of fun games or Cooking.

My Christmas Talent is probable being able to quote word for word the cartoon and book
How the Grinch stole Christmas. I have seen that cartoon more times then I can count and read the book the same way. I have in lock in my memory and can pull it out when needed.
Also I can kinda quote the live action movie word for word too. But I can do this with Labyrinth as well. I tend to watch thing over and over again.

I also can make tea cakes and a Carmel frosting from starch and banana bread even though I am allergic to banana apparently I make good bread.

We put up our tree on thanksgiving day and each get a new ornament every year.

My Christmas talent is knowing the entire score and choreography for "The Nutcracker". Evelyn's is the ability to make anyone smile with just a few words.

Hmmm lets see...I really like charity this time of year. I usually pick things that revolve around children and give every year. I like to adopt a few kids for the holiday and send them boxes of gifts. I send them internationally most of the time. Several times they have gone to Mexico. This means a great deal to me. Another tradition for us is the art of giving something made. Each year we make something and sometimes it can be quite humorous what you may get. Also R2 and I have a funny joke in which we give each other some sort of rooster for Christmas. This all got started on the account we have several Roosters in the neighborhood we visit. Plus we love Hei Hei. I have no idea why but R2 gave me this hideous Rooster one Christmas so I made sure to find him one the next year and so on. So, I need to get his rooster. R2 and I have Santa Keyper that leaves a gift by the tree on Christmas eve. We put a tiny gift in our Keypers for each other.
My talent probably would just be giving I guess. I really get so much joy out of sending people things. If I had millions that would be what I would do come up with some sort of needed ministry that involves giving to the community resources they so desperately need. I like to help the elderly too. So, I am big on children ministries and ministries for the disabled/elderly. I also really want to get involved in my Native American Indian roots and spend some time with the Cherokee people since my GG was 100% Cherokee. I sew and have fun making things for people. I did sew a lot of dress up costumes and doll clothes when my nieces were tiny.

Well one of my family's traditions is when we get together with my dad's side of the family we have a big bin of goofy musical instruments from kazoos to cow bells, and everyone at the party takes one. Then we sing the 12 Days of Christmas and each of the musical instruments represents one of the silly instruments. So it's a hoot of time for everyone who gets to be a little silly when it's their turn to play their instrument. This we usually do the first Saturday after Christmas.
We also usually have one of the older men in the family dress up as Santa and give out gifts at the party to the children.

Christmas Eve, We also sing Rock & Roll Christmas Carols at my Mom's side of the family Christmas Party - since my mother is a rock musician and her parents were both musicians too. My father is a base player and there are several singers in the family. So we basically have a jam session on Christmas Eve of Christmas Rock songs, it's fun!

We do the sumariton box every year. You get one or 3 and fill them with useful thing and a Wow toy. Then they go to 3rd world countries.
We decorate our tree the first part of December but my mom has to make so crazy thing related to Christmas every year. Some times there good some times your like why did you do that.
Mom made lantern holders and wreaths this year so it was a good time.
Last years wreath well she liked it me and my sister just didnot get it.

Everyone wants me to wrap gifts cause I like it. Every year same thing go easy on the tape. I try but I do tend to put more tape on the box. Most times some one needs a knife to cut it open.

We also put doves that were from wreaths at family funerals on top of the tree near the star. To remember the ones we lost. I always put my grand daddies dove on. I miss him so much I almost always cry. My parents add the dove of there parents and my sister puts our aunts on. We have had this pecking order forever.

Yea the Samaritans Purse was what I was talking about. I am curious where my boxes will go this year. I like to track them, but often my tracking labels goes missing and I don't ever find out where they went. LOL This is a common issue. I pack my own boxes though as I like to put clothes in mine and I can't seem to fit that into their tiny boxes. After Harvey happened I realized how important clothing can some times be to the little ones who have lost everything or have nothing. There are a lot of families here that need those basic things.

We play the Santa Snatch game every year on my mom's side of the family. It's lots of fun, and people really get into it. We tried it at my husband's side of the family last year but no one wanted to steal from anyone. It didn't help that his aunt bought the gifts for her whole family instead of letting them do their own. I have been kind of in charge of games on his side. Do a dice game similar to the one we do at the MN pony meet every year. Instead of picking gifts out of the middle though, we pass around a ball of Saran wrap that has candy and trinkets wrapped in the many layers. Everyone has to try to unwrap it, and it gets passed to the next person when they roll doubles. Last year I had everyone wear oven mitts to make it harder. Otherwise, we don't really have much for traditions anymore.

I used to play Christmas songs on my tenor saxophone on Christmas Eve but haven't done that in years.
