I am not such a long time into ponies,
last time a frien was over she said something about, oh youre room looks like my dream room when I was six. Hmm... at that point that comment hurt me, i did not know why. Then some how she gazed into my closed when i needed something and saw a lot lot of lottle ponies. I dont exactly remember her reaction but i was a little bit ashamed. Now today i saw her again. We were talking about buying stuff we dont really need and she said something about: like a closet full of ponies. This time it did not hurt me, because the love of the ponies gives me very much. But anyway i like to keep my ponies a little bit hidden, just a few show up in my living space, but they change ;)
Now what about you? Can you tell a similar story?

I used to be really embarrassed about it because people did think it was a weird hobby, but FiM's popularity kind of normalized it, I guess, and so people didn't really think anything of it around that time. Nowadays, I just think the fact that it makes me happy is a bigger deal than people's opinions. You bet my ponies are out and about to keep me company!

My parents gave me so much guff about my ponies. It used to bother me. I did end up paring it down quite a bit, but still, you walk into my front door and, blam, ponies in your face. I'm not embarrassed any more. I thought about the stacks upon stacks of fabric, yarn, crochet pattern books, and other collectables my mom has. Plus my sister has more shoes and purses than anyone I've seen in addition to her collections. They even converted an entire bedroom into a closet! They have no room to talk, so I don't let it bother me. These little ponies bring me happiness.

I have no shame! Some of my friends tease me a little but it's all in good fun. The people I'm really close to understand it's just part of who I am and those who aren't as close to me can make fun all they want, I don't care. My hobby is awesome and I don't have to explain myself or get their approval so I really don't care what people think. It makes me happy and that's all that matters!

Aww I'm sorry that happened to you. Light hearted banter, is one thing. But when it carries on, that can be a bit challenging to deal with.

I'm thankful a handful of people are aware of my love for ponies, and respect that it's just what I enjoy ♥ I even discovered another friend of mine, was a pony fan, and painted incredible commissions for pony lovers. She painted my childhood pony for me, which I now use as an avatar ♥♥♥

Only guff I can recall over ponies is when I post my customs on Facebook and people give them a laugh react.

It makes me feel like they're making fun of my work just because it's a pony

I actually took my customs off public view on my profile cause strangers would strike up arguments with me and then go to my profile, laughbreact at my customs and then make fun of me in our conversation that has nothing to do with ponies....

And one year like 5 years ago or so I was setting up a display for my customs at my local county fair ground, and some jail bird on forced community serviced laughed at my customs display like "ponies? Really?"

I was so mad I wanted to turn around and clock him.

But ponies give ne so much joy, especiallybusing them for art that I just blast such people away and keep going

I stomp out the negativity and don't make time for it, just keep going

But our culture does suck. They act like it doesn't require adults to make ponies

This is so sad. I think in art should be everything possible. There exist the strangest things and just because it is not the style of someone they have to make fun of it. They should leave it be and respect the art behind it.
