On August 24 and 25 the ancient city of Pompeii in Italy was destroyed by a Pyroclastic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. Hot pumas and choking ash rained down and bury the city. The population sadly were buried and suffocated. A lot of the eruption description is noted by Plenty the Younger who wrote about it he was across the bay from Pompeii with his Uncle Plenty the older or elder. Who was a commander of the navy and did try to go and save people but sadly he was killed as well.
The site is famous for its people frozen in the last moments of there lives. The city is a treasure trove of ancient art and history. Thanks to many digs we know how it happen and while only a portion of the city has been excavated it has revel a lot of what we know of ancient times.
So as I love Pompeii and hope to go there one day I decided this year other then watch all my favorite documentary I would make a pony.
She named after Eumachia who was a priestess of imperial cult of Pompeii in 1st century AD
Here is the wiki link if you want to learn more about her

So I took my Coco Pommel pony who hair and body color I love so I did not have to paint her. I did take her cutie mark off. I painted her long dress which was very Toga like anyway white with gold and purple acrylic paints.
To add a bit to this I collect rocks, fossils and other types of things. I happen to have some Ash and Pumas stone from the 79 AD eruption I got a long time ago from a website. I mixed just a little of the ash and a tiny bit of ground up pumas stone to the paint. So in a way to make her more as a tribute to Pompeii.
Side note I have a monstet high golden hind custom named Pompeii and she too has some ash and Pumas stone in her body.
I styled her hair and made the Roman looking hair piece out of a needle threader. The other piece is a crown I painted and put on upside down to make a nice head piece. Her belt is gold rope and her leg cuff is wire I twisted.
Her shoes are some I just painted gold and her earrings are jump hoops painted gold.
Here is Eumachia
