Hello, i have collected my little pony's since a kid and so did my sister. My parents did not have a big house so some of the pony's were never opened depending on which one of us did not get the good flip of the coin. My parent's kept them in their attic intel me and my husband moved into our own house. Some of the boxes they were in have a yellow tint to the clear plastic of the boxes that were not opened. How would someone go about cleaning the boxes without ruining their value? Can i open the boxes and make sure the pony's are ok in the box or will this ruin the value as well? I have a lot of questions because i have over 100 g1 and some g2 pony's and want to make sure they are in good condition because I would like to start selling them if possible. Thank you everyone for any suggestions or help.

Welcome!
I don’t have any carded ponies, so I can’t help you out with that. However, some collectors are willing to buy them in that condition ;) Good luck!

I would not take them out I would wipe them with a dry cloth to get dust off but don't open theme. Also welcome to the herd

Welcome! If I may ask, what country are you from? The distribution on early gens was not very equal internationally, haha ^_^

MOCs are real valuable, even with flaws, as I understand it. And the yellowing on the plastic seems pretty unavoidable? There was a recent (ish) lot that had been in a storage unit since the 80s (possibly never sold? or just someone's forgotten collection) and despite this sun-shielding and near airtightness, many were still yellowed to a degree. It seems to just be a fact of the type of plastic that was used back then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am from the US. The pony that is in it is not yellow just the window to look to see it is. Once its opened the yellow is gone. It's a G1 celebration castle. I have some of the male pony's as well that have packages that was not opened that have some yellow tint to it as well. Thank you :)

Once the plastic bubble has yellowed there is no changing that, it's just the discoloration of the plastic with time. Dusting the packages with just a soft, dry cloth to clean them is all you should do. Even with yellowed plastic on the package they maintain value, I'd only remove the pony if something like moisture/water damage was causing the pony inside to degrade. Welcome to the MLPTP and good luck with your pony sales :)
