Tomorrow is the first day of school! The pony of the day is Canterlot High's former queen of mean, Sunset Shimmer. Also, how much did we love pizza day?

Yeeeeee, there's my girl!
Oh my god her stand is pizza? I believe you've just convinced me to add one to my wishlist. My SS collection is suddenly no longer complete!

Pizza day is school was like what I lived for.

Unless they were ordering out, I didn't. School lunches are terrible and their pizzas were bland, and greasy as...you-know-what.

My girl won't eat any of the school hot foods. (Seriously, unbelievably nasty.) Thankfully they offer subway sandwiches.

I used to love school pizza, they were oddly shaped as a rectangle! They had those tiny little cubed pepperoni chunks. I had a friend who's mom worked in the cafeteria and when we roomed together she would supply us with those delishious pizzas. Ahhhh....

Ah, that would be so cool! Haha, I'd always wished I could find out who they were supplied by. And I totally agree, their funny rectangular shapes and cute little cube pepperonis are so fun~

Honestly even if I did agree with you guys it's not like I had a choice. I spent my childhood going to school hungry and was usually starving by lunch. We didn't have any kind of a subway or anything and since I got free lunches I never had any money for anything else anyway. If I asked for it my mother complained. It was eat what I was given or only get food after I got home.

I went to elementary school in the '90s , when processed food was king and healthy kids weren't a priority. (I was a free/reduced lunch kid too.) We had the best school pizza, with crispy pepperoni and caramelized cheese. I haven't had a kid eating school lunch until this year (the kid that's been in school is on a specialized diet and packs daily), so we'll see soon how the school has implemented the nutrition guidelines.

September already! Can you believe I've been posting daily for the last eight months? I can't! September Aster is the pony of the day.
I'm always ready for fall after my anniversary, but I do still have some fun summer ponies to show you before the ponies switch gears this month!

My middle school ordered for pizza days, but in high school they had these rectangle pizzas that weren’t the best but were ok, the best part was they made French fries to go with and I swear they were the best fries! They actually had to put a limit on how many fries students could take at one point lol

She's so pretty!

I was homeschooled from 4th grade so we had lots of mac & cheese. it was cheap, easy, and fed both of us.

As for my girl, she qualifies for free lunch, but she's ASD and literally can't eat a lot of what they serve. The menu is salad and an apple, or hot lunch. Hot lunch is pepperoni pizza, burritos, tacos, nachos, grilled cheese, or sun butter and jelly sandwich. The grilled cheese comes in a sealed bag that they microwave and I would have gone hungry rather than eat it. My girl has only recently started eating cheese or olive pizza and she’ll eat grilled cheese at home, nachos, too. The majority of kids at her school are poc (I hope I used that correctly, we live in a very ethnic area) and seem to like the lunches. They get an Apple and milk with each. Now it’s middle school and subway contracted with the school district so they have the option of a basic sandwich. White sub bread, ham or turkey, cheese, and packets of mayo and yellow mustard on the side.

I don’t eat lunch anymore, so I can send E lunch at school.

This year certainly seems to be flying. I have very much enjoyed your very ambitious project here.

It’s so odd to me that your schools supply lunch. Kids here have always had to bring their own lunches. Especially in elementary schools, there’s no option of any food provided by schools (except the monthly(ish) Pizza Day). Then in Highschool we get the cafeteria and you can choose to buy what’re is on the menu’s for the day, bring your own or go off campus for lunch. My friends and I typically walked to the nearby mall on our lunch and ate our home packed lunches there. Teenage logic am I right? :lolpony:

We weren't allowed to leave campus just for lunch. During senior year, sometimes I stopped and bought lunch somewhere before going/returning to school if I had an appointment. That's wild to me that you guys were allowed to leave. All of our doors to the outside were locked during the school day, and the alarm would go off in the office if one was open for more than a couple of minutes.

The schools received special funding last year and this year to make lunch free for all kids, regardless of income level. I'm of the opinion that if they legally have to be there or parents are fined/jailed for truancy, and all property owners pay a school tax (this may vary by state), then the school should be providing them with lunch at no charge (or they can opt to pack their own lunches from home). But what do I know? I just hate reading stories about kids' lunches being taken away because they have "lunch debt" or kids using their allowances to pay other kids' lunch debt. Or cafeteria workers paying the debts or refusing to deny a kid lunch and then getting fired. It doesn't help to make a good learning environment. ANYWAY...

The pony of the day is Sweet September. Happy Birthday, September babies!

Another beauty! September... Wow, the year has flown!

(I really want to make a calendar from your pictures!)

Really? At my high school only seniors were allowed to leave campus without a note from either their parents or a teacher.
