On the subject of hair, I'm tired of all the pegasus having short manes, it's super sucky.

Do you think it's the whole cultural association of sportiness and short hair? I mean, surely they can see past that and do a Serena and Venus Williams pegasus vibe! like, dudes ... pony tails.

I think it's a whole culture of Hasbro being cheap skates. Out of the core cast only 2 characters have long hair.

I feel like it may because it's easier to animate short hair.
Also because of small plastic figurines that they're making. If you have Izzy you'll know that her hair limits the movement a bit.

I’ve put an unreasonable amount of thought into this while I initially designed Skybreeze.

It makes practical sense for pegasai to prefer a shorter mane and tail. Can you imagine all the knots and debris that would get tangled in long luscious locks? Think about how knotted long hair gets when your caught in a wind storm or on a rollercoaster. Now imagine what that’s like while in flight.

In G5 I think the designs have taken on a bit more of a practical sense. Along with trying to be more inclusive for everyone.

I’m not huge on the choice as I am a big fan of brushables (being a G1 gal and all) BUT I do appreciate seeing female leads with shorter and fun do’s. Also male pony’s with long mane’s as well is very nice on the flip side.

I am already super tired of the rehashing of essentially the same toys over and over. But the dang completist in me needs it all and suckers like me are who Hasbro counts on.:rolleyes::break:

It took me a minute to realize you are discluding Pipp Petals, as her hair does not hit the shoulder (without a flat iron). I keep trying to figure out what's going on there, is it a long bang with the back pulled up? If it's actually shaved in the back and some kind of short symmetrical bob then you're right, and I'm like whoa! :surprisepony: Even if you started with G3, they are all about the hair! The Fashion Style ponies were all about the hair, but maybe MLP slid into this by making the G4s so small that hair wasn't as important.

The aggressive advertising and Brony market flood has finally caused me to become okay with it; also I got a birthday present: the Funko Pop collector's set (much cuter in person!). So now I want non-brushable ponies. The Loyal Subjects Snuzzle, Princess Sparkle, maybe Glory, then some to make earthers outnumber unis, and Funko Pop Trixie and Dr. Hooves.

If making girl ponies with short hair is supposed to be so modern, then where are the guys with long hair?? I had professors in their sixties with ponytails and that was over ten years ago! LOL I just thought- what if they made a male pegasus with hair so long he had to float over the ground constantly so it wouldn't drag  I used to wonder how the BnG's without wings got around... :Flutter::Flutter3::Flutter4::flutter2:

well, like, Big Brother Ponies were about the hair too.
But apparently the long-haired pony guy look has been done since, in an episode of Equestria Girls. Zephyr Breeze the surfer has long hair, in a man-bun.

Lots of G4 male characters have long(er) manes.
- Zephyr Breeze
- Chancellor Neighsay
- Cheese Sandwich
- Jeff Letrotski
- Shining Armor
- Bright Mac
- Braeburn
- Rockhoof
- Apple Strudel
- Hoity Toity
- Hoofbeard (comic only I believe)

All among other male characters we see in the FiM series with various mane designs that are longer than the “average joe.”

If only the boys were released with long, brushable hair. Shining Armor and Big Mac had mohawks, Cheese Sandwich was only released with molded mane. :tex:

I like Zipp's design, but she could have had a long braid or such in tandem with buzzcut. So you could style the toy's long hair as you like.
Then again, I think both men and women need long, or atleast longish hair.

I’m wondering everyone’s thoughts on the new ‘make your mark’ ponies. I’m not a fan of the large 3-d symbols myself. The two ‘show your shine’ ones are cute though. I like that Izzy.
For molded hair I actually like Pipp, Izzy and Hitch’s kinda transparent glittery hair :) it looks nice. I haven’t seen the show your shine ones yet though

I remember Hitch from the unicorn party had sparkly, translucent hair. Because of this you could see some weird attachment in the tail, which made me replace him with a normal one (now that I've come around on molded hair-still need a brushable, long haired boy). The neighbor's kid still loves his Unicorn Party Hitch, tho!

Oh I didn’t think about that, I wonder if you can see it on the make your mark ones too. Haha nice of you to give it to him :)
Speaking of long haired boys, I saw this art a while ago (I’m not sure who the artist is I just saw it on Pinterest and saved it cause it was cute) of a hairstyle swap between g4 and g5 and look at Hitch with Fluttershy’s hair! He looks great (I like Rarity with Pipp’s style too)
