Gingerbread's kitchen

@stjarne :lolpony::lolpony:

@Skybreeze I meant what I said LOL I got many ponies that could use your attention to detail!

Happy Easter every pony :romper:

We actually did our Easter yesterday, cause my brother had to work today. I tried to scale down since I worked everyday and could just prepare a little each evening but it all came together and we had a fun time. I made a ham, baked pineapple casserole (one of my favorites), potato salad, sweet potato rolls, pinwheel appetizers, a peanut pie, a pistachio cake and my family brought other dishes and fried chicken :) I hid eggs and we had a silly adult Easter egg hunt after we ate which was lots of fun.

The piece de resistance is the egg cake I made. I wish I had trimmed the side oval a little more evenly but I will know what tips to try next time I make it to get it to perfection, I'm still happy with how it came out though and it tasted good too which is paramount.

And just cause I wanna show off some of my new decor, here is my kitchen before my family ravaged everything LOL Those bunny cabinet wreaths are new and I think they're super cute!

Also, my Dad gave me this Pillsbury doughboy gumball machine a couple months ago. When I was a kid my Dad was a manager of a grocery store. One of the years Pillsbury did their Bake-Off contest they also hosted a contest for stores to create the best display (this was in the 80/90s, when store merchandise displays were a thing). Anyway, my Dad won the contest and received a paid family vacation and a bunch of Pillsbury swag including this gumball machine. It's been in his attic collecting dust all these years but he asked if I wanted to give him a home. I immediately thought of how I could dress him seasonally through the year so I cleaned him up and here he is debuting his Easter look :)

..............Saturday to enjoy with the Kentucky Derby.................
..............Then Sunday was International Harry Potter day so I made 2 recipes from my HP cookbook.......
.............May the 4th be with you today!!!...................
.............And tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo! ...................

Can I just say, I feel like I've found my tribe here. You like ponies, AND all of the above? At what point do we look into genealogy and make sure we aren't long lost sisters?

@Sassarazzmadazzles, I made my first King Cake last year, and it was an adaptation: Sweet Dough and Cream cheese filling covered in cajan crawfish cream sauce....it was the most tasty thing E.V.E.R. I will ruin my diet yearly for that event. Lol!

I have always been amused by how pony people often have so many other things in common. I'll find others who collect the same "other" things I do or are into many common interests and ponies are just another thing that seems to link us like-minded people. We should form our own state LOL

Oh, interesting, a savory and sweet king cake. Color me intrigued!

Oh my god, that cake is beautiful! And glad to hear it tasted great too :D I always add seasonal costumes to things that stay out year round too, so I love the gumball machine

Yo never ceases to amaze me with your kitchen!! That cake is so cute and I love the purple sugar on it. I'm glad you saved the gumball machine, you can do some cute pics with that guy. I just thought he was a bunny gumball machine at first.

That looks amazingly good and fun!!

What a busy week for us holiday enthusiasts! I'm having to scale back, let's see Harry Potter day was Monday, decided to postpone that one and celebrate on Harry's b-day later this year to spread out the festivities. It's rough when all these hit together and during the work week

Hope the 4th was with you all yesterday!

Yesterday for dinner I made wampa arm meatloaf with what was supposed to be twin sun toasts but my yolks didn't turn out pretty and wookiee cookies, which are really just choc chip but the recipe came from my Star Wars cookbook so it still counts LOL

....with it being a late work night for me and May 4th being yesterday, for Cinco de Mayo today, we cheated and got our Mexican game on with some TB! :p

Now, I'm poised for Derby day Sat and my big Mother's day brunch Sunday, *whew* tell me, why do I cook for 10 people when I only have 1 mom  wish me luck, it'll be a busy weekend but then I get a little break until Memorial weekend, but that's pretty easy, lots a grilling out :)

Memorial weekend is my birthday ;) the 28th, you can celebrate my birth as well! Lol

I love your meatloaf btw lol

@Gingerbread I stared at that Taco Bell bag for an uncomfortably long and extended time to try and figure out what exactly about the bag made it "Star Wars" themed. I am enthusiastically awaiting your Harry Potter themed day creations. I promise you, one year I will get to join you for these fun celebratory days and get to try all your tasty treats.

@Gingerbread I randomly saw these on my internet browsing today and feel like they belong in your kitchen. <3

It's too hot to cook :chief:

Plus, this pony goes to the beach next month so not too many good treats have been hanging around this house. I'm concerned about putting on that bathing suit LOL
But lets see if I can scrape up some caloric eye candy for you folks :winkpony:

My mom's birthday was on Mother's day this year, I hosted brunch and had family over. No pictures but the usual brunch fare. Omelets, cheesy grits, pimento cheese and fried green tomato on homemade buttery biscuits, a banana fosters french toast casserole, bacon, sausage, fruit, and a birthday cake to celebrate! My mom lives on a small farm, and she is particularly fond of her chickens. She's a bit of a crazy chicken lady LOL so I decided to make her a chicken b-day cake and since it was also mothers day and she has 3 children I made 3 little chick cupcakes following her holding the b-day candles LOL She loved it, her momma chicken cake with me and my 2 brothers as chickies :chick:

IMG_8532.JPGIMG_8533.JPG

Then not long from that was one of my brother's b-days. I'm always the cake supplier but he requested cupcakes. He always wants funfetti and I just can't be that basic, so I did homemade funfetti cupcakes with a amaretto custard filling and white chocolate buttercream frosting. They were quite delicious if I do say so myself! And while experimenting with the amaretto custard I ended up having leftover that I threw into a pie shell, which was pretty divine.

IMG_8421.JPG IMG_8422.JPG

I think the only other kitchen adventures have been Father's day. Brunch again, at my house. This time I made the usual staples, grits, bacon, fruit, biscuits with chip beef gravy, they wanted the banana french toast casserole again and I changed it up breakfast eggrolls :satisfied: someone did snag a pic of those, complete with sausage gravy for dippin' (the ones with toothpicks were for the vegan bro). I also made my dad a carrot cake cause it's his favorite.

IMG_8809.JPG

Lastly, I must show off Pillsbury gumball's summer get up LOL He's become my seasonal kitchen mascot!

IMG_8651.JPGIMG_8654.JPGIMG_8653.JPGIMG_8652.JPG

That's about it for now. This weekend I'm really not doing much. I made a applepie monkey bread this morning which was pretty good and for the 4th I'm just going to make chili dogs and macaroni salad, maybe some deviled eggs. I am inviting family and friends over for a homemade funnel cakes bar with all the toppings :)

You are just amazing! I can't even begin to tell you how jealous I am of your talent. I could do it maybe if I had time but I don't, my son even told me a while back if something happens to Dad he'd starve because my cooking is gross
But I love that you are so modest about it and it's like second nature to you. You deserve an award for the best wife, sister and daughter!! Thanks for updating us with the eye candy.... happy 4th!
