Re-gluing head

Whenever I get a pony in the mail, the second thing I do with the pony is take the head off, inspect its insides, then put the head back and swivel the head!

But sometimes you get ponies that came with superglued on heads ( I think they're superglued because boiling water barely budges it and you need a sharp implement to take it off), and I always end up damaging the pony in some way in my relentless quest to attempt to take the head off so it's more fun to play with...:sadpony: And I always forget to ask the sellers if the head has been glued or not! ( o_O ) With superglued ponies, sometimes it takes 3 to 5 hours for me to saw through all the glue, and even then, sometimes I discover I wasn't sawing through the glue, and instead I was slicing some part of the vinyl

edit: this post was in response to a thread i necro'd (woops) about people regluing ponies to their heads, and some people were talking about people with super-glued on pony heads.

What do you think about superglued on heads? I guess if someone keeps it in their personal collection, i don't really care, but it makes me sad whenever I find out a pony for sale has a superglued on head, because it's so hard to do further maintenance without feeling terrible for wrecking parts of the pony

I personally never alter a pony once I get it (other than cleaning, styling and maybe repinking hair) so if I get a pony with a loose head I keep it loose and unsealed and if I get one with a glued on head I just clean it and leave it be. I don’t think I have personally encountered ponies that have had their heads super glued on by their previous owners after they were loose unless they are customs but I guess if it’s YOUR pony you’re free to do with it as you want so I wouldn’t be upset if a pony I get had a head superglued on if the previous owner wanted to do it for whatever reason while they owned it.

I'm the same way. If a tail is loose and keeps falling out I may reinforce it with zip ties but I try to just clean and restyle ponies I plan to re-home and allow their new owner to do any gluing or any painting or even re-pinking. I just want to make sure it's cleaned up and stored properly.
