:tulip: How does it work? :tulip:

The MLPTP Spring Swap is like a Pastel Secret Santa: each participant is given another MLPTP member to send a swap box full of goodies to, based on the recipient's wish list. In turn, the sender will receive a swap box based on their own wish list from someone else!

Everyone will send/get one or a few ponies from their wish list, along with some extra goodies, tailored for them from their wish list by their secret swapper. The gifts will also be wrapped and made festive! You will ship and receive a box full of fun!

:Flutter: Requirements to join:

  • Minimum of 3 months Active Membership at MLPTP. (Or you've posted on the forums within the last 6 months prior to this post.)
  • Minimum of 200 posts PRIOR to swap announcement date (3/1).
  • Minimum 3 or 5 MLPTP feedback (based on tier - SEE BELOW) OR MLPTP feedback for 2 successful swaps in the past. *Please keep in mind that Card Swaps only count as 1 single feedback per our policy change here.*
  • You must not have any Negative Feedback on your profile.

If you don't meet the requirements to join, don't fear!

There will be more fun to come over the next few weeks with little/no requirements so everyone can have some fun!

:Flutter4: What are the spending limits?
  • There are 2 spending categories for this swap:
    • Level #1 is $35-$40 (including pony/ponies and extras) 3 feedback required
    • Level #2 is $75-$80 (including pony/ponies and extras) 5 feedback required
    • These amounts do not include shipping costs of any kind.

:Flutter3: MLPTP Swap Etiquette:

  • You must include at least one pony from your partners wish list in the swap box you send.

  • Due to the budget values we'll only allow 1 partner per member for this swap.

  • You must include a few gift extras, either holiday themed and/or based off wish list questionnaire. Extras should be based on suggestions from your recipient's wish list -- strive to make sure their gifts are tailored to them.

  • All items must be wrapped. Think about it... how FUN is it to unwrap gifts?

  • Remember to include a card and let your partner know who you are.

  • For Domestic Shipping: tracking and insurance are both required. If a package gets lost in the mail, the sender is responsible for either putting together a replacement box for the recipient, or reimbursing the recipient the value of the box as claimed through the insurance. Failure to do so will result in a negative feedback from the MLPTP (which is an automatic ban from all future swaps). Any replacement package or reimbursement is expected within a 3 week period from the first package being declared lost. If the original package does eventually arrive, options will be offered to both the sender and recipient at that time.

  • For International Shipping: tracking and insurance are not required on international packages, however we strongly suggest both. If you choose to ship internationally without tracking, you understand that should your package not be delivered within 6 weeks of ship date we will consider it lost. Once the 6 week period has passed, it will be up to the sender to file a claim with their postal service (if able to do so) AND put together and ship another package for their partner, OR reimburse them the swap value (this is why we suggest insurance, so you aren't out the funds twice!). Any replacement package or reimbursement is expected within a 3 week period. If the sender fails to do this, it will result in a negative feedback from the MLPTP (which is an automatic ban from future swaps). If the original package does eventually arrive, options will be offered to both the sender and recipient at that time.

  • Willing to ship international?
Awesome! We really appreciate members who are willing to ship internationally as it gives more people the chance to participate in swaps. However, because international shipping comes with both increased postage costs, we require that all members who plan to ship internationally learn about their international shipping options before signing up, including the costs involved with (optional but strongly recommended) tracking and insurance.

To estimate postage costs, use these postage sites to estimate how much it would cost to send a 5lb box from your country to another country. If you need an exact address to calculate shipping, choose a landmark in that country using a Google search.

(For example, when estimating the cost to send a package from the US to the UK, the addresses you could use for the sake of an estimate might be from the Statue of Liberty in the US to Big Ben in the UK). You are welcome to PM a moderator for assistance with this step.
  • If shipping international please mark as GIFT on the customs form so your partner is less likely to have to pay duties/taxes on the package. When recording values please do not overestimate for those who have to pay customs fees. If you are mailing internationally and would like to know your recipient's preferences for shipping, please ask us to ask them for you.

  • We do not recommend shipping internationally from the USA using services other than USPS at this time due to high brokerage and customs fees.

  • Be sure to package your swap box for a safe secure delivery! This means using a sturdy box, packing tape, and filling all empty space in the box with packing material (packing peanuts / bubble wrap / etc) so that no part of the box collapses in transit. Expect the absolute worst to happen to your package in transit. Make sure your labels are clear and legible!

  • We understand some members may get carried away in shopping and not realize, or may feel inclined to go over budget. Please understand to do so is entirely discretionary and if you do, you may not have a partner who will do the same. Also consider, not everyone has the funds to go over and nor should they feel like they have to. A member who spends appropriately should not feel like they didn't give enough because someone else was over-generous. Based on feedback we've received, a maximum is not set but we strongly encourage swappers to please try to stay as close to the budget as possible to avoid any hard feelings and remember to account for values of items that you may have already had that cost you nothing.

  • When shopping for ponies, keep in mind that ponies should be in great condition! The MLPTP Swap rule of thumb is: Send a package that you would be thrilled to receive yourself!

:flutter2: IMPORTANT STEPS:
  1. Send your tracking number and/or proof of postage to the swap host by 4/5.

  2. Once you've received your box, you must post a thank you brag in the Show n Tell thread. Your sender is anxiously waiting to know how much you love your box, and everyone else would love to see what you received! Failure to complete this step will result in a neutral feedback for the swap. *Please try to include at least one photo that shows everything you received all together, with however many other photos/comments you want.

  3. The mods here at the MLPTP are very busy and will quickly be moving along to the next swap, game, contest, or other activity. Please open your boxes and complete step #2 above by 5/1. Failure to do so means that the mods may not be able to step in and help with any concerns you may have with your swap box after that time has passed. (Exceptions apply if your box arrives after this date due to extenuating circumstances.)

  4. If you have any concerns with ANYTHING you MUST contact the swap host ASAP. We will always work together to come to a fair and decisive conclusion. You are welcome to send the host photos of your swap box contents if you have any concerns you may be missing the mark and we would be happy to provide feedback.

:Flutter: The Importance of Deadlines and Communication!!

Everyone who signs up and sends a package should be able to also receive a package in a timely manner. If you are not confident you can have your package shipped by the deadline, please reconsider joining. There will be plenty of other fun festivities to participate in year-round. We understand things arise and some things can't be controlled, but we also want everyone who participates to enjoy the swap and be assured to have their gifts before the holiday.

If for any reason you run into issues you must communicate with the swap host so we can work it out. Failure to ship by the required deadline or communicate issues in a timely manner may result in a negative feedback. Our goal is to make sure our swaps are fair and fun for all who participate.

Wow a spring/pastel themed swap, this is so cute! Hopefully somewhere down the line I’ll have the feedback and funds to participate :lolpony:

Spring is my favorite season! This is so exciting! I can’t wait to participate. :tulip::greenheart:

I've got a bit of a silly question. Unfortunately, I only have two feedbacks here, but I do have a few more positive feedbacks on a site called Discogs (a site for buying and selling physical music). Am I able to show the host my feedback there as a sort of proof, or am I required to have it on here only? Sorry if this is something I should already know. :')

Thank you for asking, no harm in it!

Unfortunately, our requirements are restricted to the feedback received here on the Trading Post as indicated above…

You can try to get another feedback before the signup close in two weeks, but by the time the next swap rolls around you’ll probably qualify!

Oh alright, thank you! I assumed as much, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Final week for signups if you’re thinking of joining us! And if you’ve already signed up, make sure to get your wish lists posted!

I don’t have enough points or activity for this. But maybe in the future. I’m curious…what kinds of things do people put on their wishlists?

You can check out the swap-specific wish lists that have been posted so far here. Or you can check out The Wishing Well forum for people’s individual wish lists - feel free to make your own there!

Hooray! I need something positive to focus on. :tulip::butterfly::Flutter:
I hear you there - I feel like all day long, everything I see is either depressing, terrifying or some combination of the two! o_O Definitely can use a positive focus for my brain.

I’m an Aries that adores spring so I’m all about this swap. Excited to see so many other springtime enthusiasts in this thread! I haven’t participated in a pony board swap since 2006 so I’m READY to go. Bring on all things spring!

this is the first pony swap (not just cards) I qualify for!!!! alas i have absolutely zero capacity for it tho:cry:

can't wait to see everyone's!!

I would like to participate, but my wishlist for ponies is quite small and most of them are expensive
Edit: oh, but I'm missing a couple of posts anyway....

I'm so excited to get my partner tomorrow and start PONY SHOPPING!! :Flutter4:
