Action Hank's Crappy Art Thread

The closest thing I can think to call this thing is a sprite sheet, since I plan to cut it apart and use the individual pieces for backgrounds, that's why I've done the pipes the way I have, so they can be mixed and matched in order to make whatever plumbing thing seems appropriate for the scene. And to think I was only gonna draw a few outlets and a fire sprinkler when I started.

I'm not really sure as I've been making it up as I go, if I remember right the first aid and fire alarm sign are one centimeter wide and two and a half long. Not sure if that helps figure out the scale or not.

Also is there anything on there you can't figure out what is?
Sorry I was gone for a while and haven't responded. I really like the direction of your piece. I understand everything on it, I read blue prints all the time in my job and I am used to seeing the tiny details. Keep us updated on the progress!!!

Hello again I've made more new stuff for people to see then tell me what you think.

You guys can ignore the section that says PA system as I've finished all those parts.

Hello here I am again, I altered the animation and removed the drugs so here it is!
Awful 4 No Drug.gif

I'm also working on a new animated thing, not sure how long it's gonna take.

Also I haven't done anything with the new props yet they're still just sitting there on the paper.

Ohhh your props are really cool, that's some steady hand you got! Environment and prop design is really hard so I have a lot of respect for those that do it.

My father was a chartered engineer that insisted on drawing everything by hand so that also made these kinds of illustrations really nostalgic to me, definitely looking forward to seeing more of your work

What do you use to animate btw? It looks like puppet animation same as FiM used but I'm not so familiar with the method, it looks great though!

Thank you, does it still count if I use a ruler and one of those circle template things?

I use Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5, with show accurate puppets made by people more talented than me.

Haha, yes of course! Artists should be able to use every tool at their disposal, it's not cheating any more than a digital illustrator using vectors or pen stabilisers would be. Do you have one of those flexible curve rulers? They were something that blew my mind when I had found out they existed.

It's really easy to overlook, but animation has never been an individualist industry, even with just the visual side there are more job titles that I can count, and I doubt most character designers are in charge of rigging and animating their own models  tech literacy is its own skill

I was originally gonna say that I just used a cheap ruler from the dollar store, but seeing that fancy flexible ruler thing made me need to go get one, so I have one of those now and a new regular ruler.

It's so fancy and flexible! Thanks for mentioning that that thing exists.

Hello I'm gonna assume the two likes mean people are interested in WIP stuff so here's a screenshot!

Maybe one day I'll figure out how to show this stuff with sound.

Also if anyone's wondering the on screen keyboard is there because the keyboard on that laptop is dead, still haven't got around to buying a new one.

Would anyone ever be interested in seeing WIP GIFs or screenshots of videos?
Absolutely! I love your work!

I never knew an onscreen keyboard was a thing, look at you smarty pants. ;)

Hello again I come barring more screenshots!

I've discovered that I really hate lip sync, it's such a pain and no matter what I do to it I can't seem to get it right.

What kind of class did you take to learn that stuff?

Also have you done any animations since the classes?

It was just one class at my community college called beginner digital animation but we learned a lot of basics so I enjoyed it. I’ve done a little bit but not much since then  I only had access to the programs for free until the class ended so now I’d have to pay lol
