I guess MLP is it's own Aesthetic Sub in it's own right, but is anyone vibin with other aesthetics?

My cosmic bff introduced me to Cottagecore, which sent me down the aesthetics rabbit hole. I dig Cottagecore, but I lean more towards Dark Cottage, because I can only handle so much pink...
There's nothing wrong with pink, I love pastels too, I'm just kinda gothy and prefer black lol.
Anways, when traveling down the rabbit hole I found Goblincore, Ravencore, Witchcore, Dragoncore, and Vulture Culture really suit my personallity. I like Cryptidcore and Ghostcore too.
I just like the whole concept of aesthetics, and love how the internet is exploding with them. Diving into them has given me a lot of creative inspiration and self expression outlets.
I generally like all the Aesthetics, but there some that just fit really well.
Any pony else have an aesthetic or multiple aesthetics they are into? I'd like to hear all about it.

i've gone through many many phases of aesthetics lol. years ago i used to be very into kinda naturey & spacey aesthetics, but then kinda steered away & found vaporwave to be really interesting. now, i lean much more into kidcore/2000s stuff & i feel like that fits me most in a way. it's super cute & just cheery, makes me smile :C

I like kidcore too and find vaporwave intesting too! Raven/goblincore sticks with me really well, but when I started diving into Dragoncore, I was like ohhhh...huh guess I'm a dragon too lol. I'm very comfortable with duality and fusion. I feel like mlp fits into a lot of the aesthetics.

I was just thinking how collecting mlp totally fits into my ravencore/dragoncore vibe. And is part of why I made my way back to the herd. I was thinking how my collection is deffinately part of my "hoard" or dragonpile and it made me miss my collection, which is just chillin in storage with no space for a display at the moment.
But I found a bunch of mlp while thrifting the other day, most of which i gave to my kid, but it gave us a duplicate Glory and Medly, and I was like ohhhh these so belong in my hoard, yasssss...and it reignited the mlp magic.
As a collector, I've always liked the ugly well played with ponies too, and feel like that fits right in with my aesthetics.

I really like your idea of how a pony collection fits into Dragoncore, very whimsical. Personally I’m into retro aesthetics in my everyday life and also hobicore (that’s a Kpop thing).

ooh!!! i mean personally i absolutely adore all the cottagecore stuff, or just in general the vibe of being deep out in the woods, but also like personally i somehow got into glam rock (can you tell i love the rockin' beats ponies?) and however you'd describe that as an aesthetic i think that's probably where i fall!! generally with how i am out in the real world i'm a punk so i tend to dress in a way that can certainly give off a possibly unwanted less-than-stellar first impressions with strangers, but i've kind of just collected combined a lot of things i love into what i wear to kind of mish-mash together so like... i guess that's crowcore or something??? or some type of north american scavenging animal anyway!! :coolpony:

that being said i've recently found that though particular aesthetics don't always work on me, they DO work with my ponies if i ever feel like dressing them up a bit!!! i found some mini mushroom decorations at michael's and decorated sparkler's mane and tail with them for example, i did the same for cotton candy and gave her a plaid yellow ribbon too. and then i have heart throb, my newest addition and for her i think she certainly deserves some type of old hollywood aesthetic, pearls and all since that's how i saw her as a kid!!! honestly i think it gives them a lot of character and is just so fun so like, idk but if you haven't tried that kind of thing yet with ponies i'd totally recommend it!!! :heartthrob:<3

I love the look of decora and Fairy Kei. (Which I think a lot of us would enjoy considering our love of brightly colored fantasy ponies lmao.) Academia/dark academia, goblincore, cryptids, and hobbitcore are favorites of mine too.

My personal style is super neutral and comfy tho lol.
:lolpony:
decora- yes, a hundred times yes :lolpony: <3 anything that fits in that and/or harajuku fashion

Ok before I answer I will need to Google every word in that post. But I do think by just the sound of the gothy ones you listed would be my style too. I also like the fantasy world and celestial looks.
*Rushing to work so I can get done and have time to Google Aesthetic cores at lunch break...

I don't keep tabs on all the names (sometimes it just feels like you can throw "core" on anything), but I do have some really big aesthetic interests and inspirations. I like the bold, bright colors and motifs associated with the video music era-- 80s and 90s inspired, visuals that make you think of bowling alley carpet and neon lights. I die for Japanese street fashion and want to commit to the decora look more often, which is why i make so many hair clips. I actually have visited Harajuku! And I've been chasing that high ever since.

The Vaporwave look, glitchcore, and so much more... just a lot of really great visual styles.

OMG, @OctoberMoon and @ActionHank thanks for making me feel like I'm not alone. I think these young, hip kids use aesthetic as a term to describe a style/decor/lifestyle/general vibe type thing? But for us oldies like me, we just like what we like and aren't used to theming it. It reminds me of being in middle school and you had your groups/cliques. The goths, the grunge kids, the jocks and preps. I think it's like that a little only more expanded.

Or I'm totally wrong and all the youngins' are laughing at me right now LOL

I’m with you @Gingerbread I had to ask E what ‘cottagecore’ meant. I got a much longer explanation than I was expecting. :ugh:

no, you've pretty much hit it on the nail :) that's essentially what it is lol

Thank you. Pony collecting totally does. On the surface Dragoncore is about Dragons, piles of treasure and glittering sparkly stuff, which is just the visual parts of the aesthetic, but when you dive into the core values of Dragoncore, collecting ponies fits right in. Because Dragoncore is all about having a large collection of anything that brings you joy. Additionally, take pride in their collection through curation. Which makes me think of all the pony collectors and their beautiful collection displays and part of what being a member of the MLPTP teaches you is how to take care of and maintain (curate) their pony collection.

Punk and glam rock are both totally awesome and both totally crowcore lol. Crowcore, Ravencore, Corvidcore, Magipie (and *cough* dragon *cough*) there is a llot ( a looooooooot) of overlap between the corvid cores and they have their own nuances, but they are also interchangable in my opinion.

And I absoulutely love the idea of giving ponies their own aesthetic. I'm glad you mentioned it, because I have a G1 Glory and Medly that I want to do this with. I would love to see photos of your ponies dressed in their own aesthetics. I am here for this kind of stuff! Fill my cup!

I have no idea what these are.

Also I don't think I use any core aesthetic thing.
I had no idea what they were either until I was introduced to them lol. Social media and the internet have made it a thing, but a lot of the aesthetics have existed long before they gained internet popularity. The aesthetic spectrum is basically endless. As modern trend, the aesthetics have been taken a bit further than a fashion thing and include a lifestyle hobby thing. That's why I feel like MLP and collecting them is kinda it's own aesthetic.

A pony after my own heart! super neutral and comfy totally fit into favorites. I like jeans and t-shirt casual and comfy. I love color, but black is my go to for clothes; gothy without being trad goth royalty lol.

I have to Google and deep dive too lol. I had no idea aesthetic were a thing until my cosmic bff introduced me to the trend. And then it was like, oh wow, I've been living these forever lol. A lot of goblins (Goblincore) have the same experience; they've been a goblin the whole time, and now there are whole communities developing from it, not unlike pony collectors. What I love about the aesthetics too, is that you can be fluid with them or create some fusion between different ones. It's all a matter of preference and taste. Also, they go beyound a fashion trend or a social media trend in the sense that they have lifestyle componets and hobbies that go with each aestheic. Not to mention there is a lot of overlap, so a lot of them work in tandem with eachother.

So what core thing do I have when my room is full of old electronics and stuff from 80s to the 90s?

@Gingerbread I think your mostly right lol, but I'd like to expand on your thoughts, if I may. Yes, the popularity of the aesthetic is kinda a gen Zer thing, because of tik tok and what not, but that's the beauty of the aesthetics. There is room for everyone, and the aesthetics span across all generations. It's not just the gen Zers, although they are giving it the hype, lots and lots of Millenials, Xers and even Boomers. And the "youngins" are being very inclusive. It's not a clique thing, it's a community thing. It's about finding your people and having shared interest. There is such a thing as Grandmacore. Young people are reaching out, trying to connect outside of their generational bubble. They are thristy for content and coolness. And there will always be those rotten apples who get all mean girls about it, but at it's core the trend is about wanting more than their digital dominated world. There is a goblincore group on FB I joined, and there was a moment that everyone was assuming the group was all Zers, NOPE, turns out it's dominated by Millenials and Xers and the "youngins" are in the minority. But I think if older generations had the internet access the way gen Zers do, we would have done the same thing and giving our trends internet popularity. The aesthetics are for everyone.
Also, I doubt the youngins are laughing at you. You know what cool is, they haven't figured it out yet. :winkpony:
