G1 Basic Fun Retro Ponies: A Collector's Guide

I found them!! I'm so happy because they're gorgeous! The twinkle in their eyes is done very well and so pretty. Sadly the only Gingerbread they had has a loose sticker. If anyone else has plans to unbox and wouldn't mind trading, I'd be very grateful!

Ahhh lucky!

I'm glad to hear it! But I wish they would do baby ponies! I think those would sell like hot cakes. I never really liked this year of ponies, the TAF ponies would have been my preference - of better yet the Flutter Ponies!!! I will buy them regardless because I want to support them so they keep making more!

Yes, baby ponies! I would so buy them! And I agree, they would sell like hot cakes for sure.
Flutter Ponies would also be a hit, I think and I have a fondness for Windy Wings Ponies myself.

Why is Cracker Barrel an hour away
Why is the cracker barrel a restaurant here? Honestly, it's a sit-down, pretty classy restaurant. They don't sell ponies. None of the other stores that sell them are here either. I feel like maybe I'm in a separate little country inside a country.

Well I mean, most people don't talk about them very much. I very seldom see people bragging about them as opposed to other popular ponies. They don't really get mentioned in Favorite Sets threads.

E and I only like flowerbelle, honestly. Love petal is okay, but even in E’s ‘everything pink is awesome’ stage, she still didn't like sweet blossom. I'm so bummed that they scrapped the flutter ponies.

Yeah, I'm personally not interested in them either. If I could pick a late year set for them to make, it'd be the Glow n Shows.

So many sets are more popular, too... The TAF, the wingers, brothers… the glow n shows would be great, or sparkle ponies.
Oh I would be thrilled if they made the Big Brothers and Windy Wings. I'd love to have Salty, Cool Breeze,Moonjumper and Quarterback.

Well any extras I come across I'm happy to offer here at cost so I'll keep my eyes out for you guys with no CB around ya :)
You're so sweet, thank-you!

I really don’t care for the flower fantasy ponies, the one with the pink flower vines sort of looks like it has a disease to me. I’ll probably still buy them because I know I will cave, but I’m really excited that means they will have the Bright Eyes and Tic Tac Toe poses in production, meaning the next twinkle eye set could consist of Tic Tac Toe, Bright Eyes, Galaxy and Speedy or Party Time depending on which mould/character the choose for the fourth pony.

Thinking of the silver lining here.

There is now a thread available for those looking for help or who are able to provide help in locating Basic Fun ponies:

Remember that a product being canceled isn't necessarily Basic Fun's fault or their choice--as they said in the letter that @LadyMoondancer posted, they create the product and submit it to retailers. It's up to the retailers what they choose to carry and thus, what gets produced. ;)

I guess the retailers didn’t think there would really be a market for the parlour and flutter ponies, right?
Maybe that’s why they took the surprising step with deciding to do the Flower Fantasy ponies, because they’re ponies (which they know the retailers would probably take) but just ones that look rather different with the all over body designs

I hope someone at Basic Fun is keeping watch at places like this so they know what the fans like and then they can see how much we like the brother and daddy ponies and the need for them in our collections and then by seeing this, they could pitch it to the production people… I haven’t got one yet so this’ll be quite a nice thought if they could be easier to get

The blue Pretty Parlor was a shelfwarmer, so that's probably why stores didn't want the purple one. It's a shame, because the blue Pretty Parlor was great--lots of accessories, came with a pony and pet, VERY reasonably priced ($20 or $25 iirc). But the Pretty Parlor just sat there for MONTHS while the individual ponies sold. There's really nothing Basic Fun could have done differently IMO, people just didn't want it.

Not sure why the retailers didn't like the flutter ponies . . . Maybe they did a quick google search and discovered the issue with their wings breaking if you look at them funny, lol. I love the flutter ponies, I had three as a kid, but they have a bad design in terms of durability. One topple off a shelf and the wings have had it.
