G1 Basic Fun Retro Ponies: A Collector's Guide

@Grace Ruby is right, the branding for all this is so on point. Going back and looking at the first images that were released of these, it's all coming together lol. So much pretty packaging that I'm going to have to hoard like a crazy person.

YES! I use cute packaging in my sketchbooks and this is giving me so much inspo

I can't wait to get these!!!

I didn't realize the little ones were going to be a set based on Midnight Castle!! If they're packaging toys with a good quality re-release (uncut) of either of the tv specials I would totally buy them! I loved the two tv specials much more than the movie, the animation was nicely done.

Hi everyone! :) As I begin to work on the first page and update it to reflect the upcoming releases, I could use some help:

- Stock photo of Celestial Swirl pony Milky Way to match the others
- Stock photo of the Mystery Minis that will be available
- Photos of the underneath of 40th Anniversary Bluebelle's feet stamps
- Volunteers to proofread for information accuracy, legibility, correct photos, and any other possible errors.

Updated visual checklists will be coming soon. ;)

I’ve managed to find Milky Way through Australia’s Amazon

I did get a reply to my email :) I guess I'll just be patient and wait for the second run, I really want that foot logo but once I get it I will have a spare Moondancer up for grabs :)

Reporting in, I just received my Moondancer I ordered through Amazon a couple weeks ago today and I'm happy to say she does have the 40th stamp on bottom of foot.

I managed to find four of the 40th six at a Meijer's on the way back from TrotCon in Ohio and I gotta say I’m mildly disappointed. I leave these anniversary ones in their box ultimately because they’re super cute, but I do take them out at first to comb out their hair and admire them. The 40th original six are completely the exact same as the 35th anniversary, down to the fact that their feet even say bridge direct and not basic fun.

Paying 11 bucks for them was a little much. I really wish they had the 40th logos like they do in the prototype images, or even had some sort of glitter mixed into the bodies because the packaging says something about their back to shine? And it has a little photoshopped sparkles here and there. That would’ve been nice, but I guess they were being cheap because they had a lot left over.

I’m a little too bummed to finish opening them anyway, I just took out one and noticed what it said on the feet and got disappointed but maybe I will later.

(I will note that had we not had the 35th anniversaries, I would’ve been OK with paying 11 bucks but now I just feel like we wasted money on something we already owned, you know?)

Unfortunately for us, Bluebelle is one of the two that I didn’t find there. I’m sorry, otherwise I would’ve given it to ya ASAP. XD

For the record the only one I did open and look at was Minty.

Here’s a Blossom so the color change isn’t that jarring. And a Lucy who wants to chew the plastic.

Yeah, I don’t even think they’re being cast new, I’m pretty sure they’re probably just repackaging ones that didn’t sell. Impossible to know from our end. I really wish they did have a 40th anniversary logo in the cutie marks like what was initially advertised to us when they first appeared, because then I would be able to tell for sure what was happening. But it’s whatever, they look cute in the packaging. <3

ETA: I am opening them all now, and Butterscotch actually has black on her serial number, so wait until you actually get a picture of Bluebelle to reserve judgment on that
