G1 Basic Fun Retro Ponies: A Collector's Guide: Updated 1/6/23 CELESTIAL PONIES and 40th Anniversary

I bought mine from ebay and all 3 were the same price at the time.

Same! I ordered Glory on Amazon, and really wanted Moondancer, but the price is absurd... and I mean, the price for Glory on Amazon was already really high. D:
 
Someone posted on Facebook that theirs came with a brush that said 40 years on it! Consistancy would be nice!

Hmm... so those ones without the logo... could maybe end up being rare in future? :p
 
I wonder how we are meant to know which is which though. Since the photos for this current/first run show the 40th logo, it’s not like we can differentiate by the product photos.

Also, has anyone in the USA seen the 40th anniversary collectors ponies in store yet? Do we even know where they will be at? Target again? Or something weird like Cracker Barrel again?
And I’m starting to worry that the Fancy Swirl girls are gonna go the way of the flutters…
 
I believe some of the 40th anniversary CP releases have been spotted at Meijer. Sadly I do not have one by me but that seems to be what has been posted online. ;)

Thank you for the info! I had to Google what a Meijer even was lol. I definitely don’t have any near me either.
But at least there’s starting to be sightings. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and thanks again!
 
Update on the 40th Anniversary ponies coming to the US from a Basic Fun customer service rep:

"We can’t wait to launch this in the US in Fall 2023. Any retailers that are picking up the line will have it available in their stores in August/September of 2023.

Online works on a different timeline so they might have it sooner.

Hopefully we deliver what you are looking for at that time!

Thank you for your support as we continue to try to fulfill the retro My Little Pony fanbase with lots of the inquiries they have all asked for. At the end of the day – it is really up to the buyers are the specific retailers to support the items they feel will do best in their stores. We wish we had more control but we are tied to the consumer footprint that dictates the purchase of each retailer buyer.

We look forward to a fun Fall 2023 birthday celebration "

Celestial Ponies now seen on Amazon, though listed Out of Stock- I'd post links but I am not sure if I am allowed to. Seems to be on US Amazon presently at $14.99 each, 3 styles. Nova, Polaris and Aurora

I think they just haven't gotten around to listing the fourth pony yet. They have until September so why rush. :tongue: BTW for some reason the pictures on the listings are from customs on DeviantArt?? I don't know if BF thought they were real Hasbro prototypes (they look REALLY professional) or if an intern posted the wrong pics or what.

So don't be surprised if the real ponies are in different poses, lol. I imagine the pics will be updated later.

But yeah! This is confirmation that this set is happening AND will be for sale on Amazon!!

Exactly this--until the full release on Amazon, I encourage everyone to be extremely cautious and use your discretion when buying. ;)
