G1 Basic Fun Retro Ponies: A Collector's Guide

The latest information on the Twinkle Eye ponies has just been updated:

Where to buy:
  • These ponies are now listed on Blain's Farm and Fleet but are only available in stores.
  • These ponies have been found at Meijer in the US but are only available in stores.
  • These ponies have been found at Cracker Barrel in the US but are only available in stores.
  • According to several sources, they are also planning to release these in Toys'R'Us Canada.
  • It is unknown if they will be carried by Toys'R'Us US within Macy's
  • They may be also be found in the future on auction sites like Ebay or through third-party sellers on sites like Walmart.com and Amazon.com, as well as online sites and stores that carry collectible and/or pop culture-related items.
 
If anyone finds extra ponies when they pop up near you and is willing to purchase any two different ones they see and doesn't mind shipping them let me know and I will cover all costs. TIA! :)

Whoa! I really am glad I stopped at Cracker Barrel today! I found them!!! I’ll check back to see if I can find extras for my peeps here on the TP.

SoSoftClaire, thank you for the comparative photos! I really hope I can find Fizzy locally, but will bite the bullet and buy her on Amazon or Mercari if I have to. She was one of my childhood favorites. Whenever my parents enforced the "one pony only rule" on a trip, I'd always take her!
 
I found them too!!!!!!!! Well my hubby did! They didn't have them at my CB here in VA when I went over the weekend but he had to go to NC for work and I told him to stop at any CB he saw there. He found them at one :) I told him to buy what they had which was a Fizzy, Gingerbread and Sweet Stuff, no doubles. I'm going to keep looking around though and will snatch up any I see to help people here get them. It sounds like they're coming out now though :)
 
I'm interested if anyone finds doubles!
 
Guys, I sent Basic Fun a letter saying, "I love your retro ponies and I hope you keep making more of them"--because I knew they'd been having trouble getting retailers on board and I was worried they would take that as a sign to stop making them.

And they sent me a letter back!!

So they are NOT planning on cancelling the line (yay!).

And the Fall 2022 ponies are going to be the Flower Fantasy ponies (the ones from Year 10 with the lacy TAF designs on them), if the retailers pick them up! I have no idea why they suddenly decided to go out of order but the purple-haired one (Love Petal?) is on my list of "ponies I would really like but can't justify spending so much on", so I'm pretty excited!

Also, it appears they want to release them both individually and as a three-pack. (Took me way too long to figure out that's why they had two different codes, lol.)

I'm glad to hear it! But I wish they would do baby ponies! I think those would sell like hot cakes. I never really liked this year of ponies, the TAF ponies would have been my preference - of better yet the Flutter Ponies!!! I will buy them regardless because I want to support them so they keep making more!

This is great news, thanks for sharing! I wonder what happened to the Flutter Ponies that they displayed at that toy fair though? Did the retailers not like them?

EDIT:
I just reminded myself who is who with the names and Flowerbelle is a pony I’ve always thought looks so pretty but I would probably never be able to find for myself so this is pretty good!

Sadly none of the retailers wanted to stock the flutter ponies or the purple Pretty Parlor with Lemon Drop, so Basic Fun moved on to other sets.

I found all the TE ponies at my local Cracker Barrel! We went there for breakfast and I let out a squeal when I saw them. The CB employee loved my enthusiasm - LOL! I was able to get a full set for me and I let my daughter pick out two (even though there was a second full set and then some).
