I’ve been doing lots of pony hunting recently (gen 3 mostly) and I was just wondering what everyone’s favorite spots/cites are to look for pony merch! You can also talk about what you consider your greatest find! It would be fun to hear what everyone got most excited about adding to their collection.

I feel like I haven’t found really great pony deals in a while. I just collect G1 and with them being 30+ years old at this point it’s harder to find them at thrifts/yard sales. Although I do usually get lucky and come across a handful every once and awhile but the last few finds where all really common ponies but I saved them anyway. Most of my purchases come from eBay or here. My last great score would probably be when I bought a huge lot, sight unseen from someone it was just a giant box full of ponies and accessories. I scored some great ponies in it and tons of accessories. Much of it was duplicates for me but I still really enjoyed sorting through them, cleaning them all up and selling or trading all the extras. I’m sure I doubled what I paid for the box by taking the time to clean them all up. That’s one of the best ways to build your collection I think.

I’ve gotten really lucky with Facebook Marketplace over the years. I also tend to pickup at thrift and antique malls in the summer months here. I’m hoping we can get to them again very soon. My aunt was just at an antique market about four hours south of where I live and found a huge amount of MLP and sent me a bunch a photos to see if I need any. (She’s grabbed me a few and I’m super excited lol.)

I see G3 & G4 very commonly at thrift stores and FB Marketplace. For my G1’s I typically purchase from fellow members here, on Facebook groups and the arena. Occasionally I will purchase from EBay as well but as I live in Canada that can be very costly with the fee’s and shipping. :(

The best deal I've ever found was on offerup locally. 40+ g1 and a huge load of lps for only $50. The lady just wanted them to go to a good home.

I don’t have much luck locally but when I do, it’s usually at thrift/antique shops and flea markets. There is an antique festival held near my town every year and I’ve found ponies there nearly every year.

My best find was Italian Polly (White with pink hair and hearts) for $2 at one of those festivals. She even had her original ribbon. :)

Another good find was the Dream Castle with most accessories, several ponies including a princess with her accessories, and four different porcelain ponies/scenes for around $80? I forget the exact amount but I was so excited in that moment! I already had most of it but finding pony items in person is so much more exciting than buying online.

Nice finds!

I haven't hit "G1 pony gold" in awhile, but my best finds have been a G1 Euro Baby Count-a-Lot in a lot of fakies for $5 on Facebook Marketplace, a Dream Beauty in a horse lot for $5, also from FBMP, and nearly the entire G1 Petite line at the flea market for $30 about 10 years ago. I also got a Dream Castle, Perm Shoppe, and Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe with a ton of ponies and accessories in a Craigslist lot in 2008 for $50. I did get an amazing deal on G3 Licensing Show Pinkie Pie last month on eBay for $25!

The majority of my G1 collection has been built on buying lots - keeping what I need and reselling the rest. It's getting harder now that I'm about halfway to a complete collection - lots of duplicates - so I tend to search specifically for what I need now. I wish I'd focused on Sea Ponies YEARS ago before their prices inflated!

I don't really ever find ponies locally. I found a nice lot on Craigslist once. I used to have a friend from Holland who I met while I was in Mexico who would help find me some great Dutch ponies on Marktplaats for a good price and I think those are my favorite finds. I've gotten large lots on eBay with hidden treasures like Baby Princess Sparkle and Baby Ruby, etc. But those were a while ago.
