So I picked up an 80's Bubbles over the weekend at Peddlers Mall. I was excited I fell in love with the sitting pose(as well as collector's pose) and I knew I needed Bubbles so when I saw her I didn't think twice and grabbed her(and no pony left behind I brought SS North Star, Blue Ember and Braided Beauty home as well). I just noticed today that she has no blaze. I was pretty sure both sitting girls from the 80's had blazes. I'm not crazy am I? Only thing I am finding on Strawberry Reef is she's the Italy/Brazil Bubbles which has no blaze and a shorter looking tail. I poised the question in one of the facebook groups too. Under her feet say Hong Kong. Can someone shed some light and share some knowledge?

That's interesting! Could it have been removed maybe? The Italian one would be stamped Italy, right? She's one of my childhood favorites. I love the sitting pose. Congrats on getting a unique find!

My Italian seashell has no blaze and is marked as Italian… she also has freckles. Bubbles has an Italian variation with no freckles and her head is a cp head. That one is pretty sought after. As far as I know they still are marked Italy on the front hoove, but I have had Italian ponies with that missing.

It would be very cool if it was something unique! However if I were to find one like this my gut instinct would be that it was just scratched out. I remember being a small child and making random modifications to my toys because I had a specific look in mind for them, and would add or remove details accordingly. I didn't realize then that a toy would be beloved and valued nearly 40 years later.

The posting on Facebook drew a few folks that had ones that were at least one of them knew it was a factory error so that's what I am leaning towards. Her plastic looks too nice to have been removed in anyway, so thinking a factory error and just plum forgot on a run of them. Who knows! But now I'll have to be on the lookout for one WITH a blaze that isn't a Basic Fun. LOL

Yes, the consensus over time leans heavily toward a batch of factory errors, not unlike the white Bluebelles ;) I have one of these blaze-less Bubbles and she is near mint with no signs whatsoever of having been tampered with.

My bubbles has a blaze. Maybe it was removed with alcohol or some other cleaner.
