I had four princess ponies in my childhood, I still have three of them but unfortunately I threw away all their accessories at some point. :madpony:

Now I'm trying to get the right hats for my ponies again. I recently bought two and I was wondering if the strap used to be elastic or if it was always inflexible. I wanted to put the hat on Princess Amethyst again but the strap is far too long, so I'm not sure if it's worn out or if we're supposed to shorten it by loosening the knots on the inside.

Used to be elastic. You could replace it with new elastic and a few hand stitches. Otherwise I'd just tie it and tuck the excess under her hair.

It's not dissimilar from the way the g3 elastic got dry and broke on so many.

Ah, ok, thanks for the info @Tak ! Yes, the G3 elastics all broke on my ponies' hats, so I sewed on replacement elastics. It was a bit of an effort, but worth it I think.

I wasn't sure about the princess hats though, as in their current state, they look like normal cotton thread to me, while the G3 elastics basically were just rubber bands. I think I'll just tie it so that the hat doesn't fall off and tuck the excess into the hat. :)
