Hello Ponies, i just want to share part of this Holiday of our tradition in Mexico, Day of the Deads, that shares part of the tradition in our country.
The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey

People go to cemeteries to be with the souls of the departed and build private altars containing the favorite foods and beverages, as well as photos and memorabilia, of the departed. The intent is to encourage visits by the souls, so the souls will hear the prayers and the comments of the living directed to them. Celebrations can take a humorous tone, as celebrants remember funny events and anecdotes about the departed.

This pics shows Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars called ofrendas, honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed

I've always appreciated the Day of the Dead celebration. I think it's a wonderful idea to have a special day to reflect upon our deceased love ones. I think as I've lost more people over time it's made me appreciate the sentiment even more. I know we all think about lost love ones from time to time anyway but to set aside a day to really focus on it and celebrate the lives they lived seems like a nice thing to do. Every year I say I'm going to participate in my own Day of the Dead celebration and every year I seem to get distracted by Halloween happenings and miss it! Guess I'll just have to make my way down to Mexico and let y'all show me how it's done and then maybe I'll be able to stick with it!

I love day of the dead. I have always wanted to see it in person and get a suger skull. It's so beautiful with all the colors and what it represents.

I have a custom pony I got as I love the skull painting.

La Rosia came from Spain I don't know her artist I named her.

Thank you Scarlet Moon! What beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing your traditions with us. We usually do a family shrine, but this year it just didn't get done. I feel a little sad about that, but my relatives will probably forgive me. They know they're always welcome in my home, deceased or not!

I love this tradition! Believe it or not, we used to eat the sugar skulls after we were done one year. They weren't that good >.< the Pan De Muerto is good though, hehe
