So at work when we need to soak stickers off, we use lighter fluid and it works really well. Think this would work to loosen adhesive on so soft ponies? Anyone think it could hurt to try on a bait SS I plan to deflock anyway?

Interesting....I would think it might take the paint off and I would make sure you really clean off any of it's residue but try it on a tiny spot and let us know how it works.

Oh, and the plastic will probably absorb it....so if you have a fire your ponies might be quick to turn into little molotov ponies

I'm interested as to how this turns out.

I too am interested but concerned. As @Gingerbread said, the vinyl will certainly absorb the fluid up some too thus making for a safety concern for the long term integrity of the pony. Having said that I do know a lot of people use varnish remover to help deflock, which isn’t a good idea.

Just be careful if you try it and try on a bait pony and share your results.

So I tried the lighter fluid and it doesn’t seem to have affected the vinyl negatively. But it also does nothing but dissolve the fuzz, leaving the adhesive behind. So in conclusion, it’s basically useless for deflocking. Oh well, back to finger picking I guess. Lol

Dang, I'm still hoping we'll find an easier way to deflock one day but at least lighter fluid is one method we can knock off the list!
