So how do you do it? Do you have them seperated by year, pose, color? Or do you just stick 'em on a shelf as soon as you get them? When we move, I'm contemplating on how I want them displayed and I'd like to get some ideas. :D THANKS!!!

~Dawn

I have them by set now, but the sets aren't in any particular order. It's mostly so that my favorite sets are where I can see them best. But, I like to change the order around occasionally. One of my favorite things is to have them in alphabetical order! hehe And sometimes, with my more recent ones, I put them in order that I received them. When I was little, I had them arranged by either eye color, pose, or body color. So, I display them different ways at different times.

there will be two responses below as lady sea shell is sitting next to me and i'm too lazy to log out to change profiles. hehe

Mavi: I like to have them by set, not nessicarily by year, but what ever sets fit on the shelf get stuck there, then the misfits get stuck togeather hehehe

LSS: I like to have them in sets too, my favs get put to the special shelves, and where as mavi put it the "misfits" get put on another shelf, thought right now it's "clean pony shelf" "dirty pony shelves"
heheh

Displays  *giggles*
I think this may be one of my favorite parts of pony collecting....

My First Display: (all 1983 ponies sorted by set)

and, my most recent display case: (a $5 cdn garage sale find)
I'ts great! stores some of my babies, protects from dust, and it locks at the back. *it still has it's key too!*
be warned, the picture is fairly large. :?

I like displaying by sets, years etc. when possible. (but that's just me) I also love displaying accessories. :D

They've all been put away untill we move.

Ive got them seperated by..
Top: Plushes and various ones (German Wigwam, Princess Misty, Princess Primrose, Bride pony, Kiss Curl)
Eye Level Shelf: Special G1's (most of them lol)
Below that: Mountain Boys, remaining Princesses, MGR, Perfume Puffs
Below that: G3's
Below that: G1's that are mediocre
Bottom shelf: G3 back cards and Party Time lol
My MIB G3's are on top of the bookcase. I figured if they get dusty, it'll hurt them less than the oop ones.

My G1's are displayed by condition/wings/if they're my specialties. I have two book shelves w/ G1's on them, one is for my lower than NM ponies, the other is for my NM-M ponies. On the lower than NM shelf, the ponies are mainly standing next to whatever other ponies I have of their set. My 2 NM & 1 completely and utterly mint SS's sit on my dresser, looking completely untouchable. Lily w/ wings and comb & horrible-condition Glow (I need a replacement, hint, hint), as well as G2 Twinkle Star and her kids (in my world, they are) are on a small 'shadow box' on my wall. Dabble, Italian Gusty, and Bobbi reside on my night-stand. I also have most of my G1 babies on a shelf above the others, where G2's reside as well. Then, my G3's are pretty much by set. They have two huge shelves they sit on, grouped together by set as much as possible. The new ones, like Shimmers and Dazzle Brights, are sitting the center table in my living room.

Mine are all by year, then by set for the most part. I don't collect all of the TE or SS, so those are kind of grouped with their non-SS counterpart and their BBE or FT baby.

re:

I don't have too many ponies, currently (since I had to sell most of my collection to pay for school last year), so they're pretty random. If I have a complete set, those go together. However, G1's stay with G1's, and G3's stay with G3's for the most part (the notable exception to this is Waterfire and Chief, who just look so cute together. :p ). And all of my ponies are diaplayed with my other love - books. It saves shelf space and looks nice, lol.

well...

I have a very limited amount of shelf space, so most of my G1s are in drawers. But I rotate my ponies, so they're all on display at some point.

Most of my G3s are out, since I keep adding to them so often. Here's a photo

frilly3.jpg

You'll notice the G3s on the left, (on risers, on the shelves), playsets on the right, extra G3s hang upside-down from the ceiling. Frilly is standing on 1 set of drawers full of G1s (there is a second set of drawers also). Here are a few G1s on display.

My pony room is only 6 feet wide (about 18 feet long), and full of a lot of other stuff, so it's very cramped.

HHHMMMM

I try to keep mine in sets lol
all my G3 are any way
ranbows and glidders on one shelf
jewels and sparkles on another
and all the butterfly island on another
then on a new shelf i have all the playsets and dress ups together
LOL

G1 my shelf is a mess other than all the newborns have their ownshelf with the nursery and my baby ponies have a shef of thier own that haings on the wall

I'm thinking about putting them together in sets as well. Thanks for all the input guys! And LOVE the pictures!!! Those are awesome!!

TraderTif - WHERE did you get those risers? I've been really wanting to do that for my collection because the poor babies in the back don't get their star time. I was thinking about using old VHS or cassette tapes, but those look more professional.

Thanks again guys!!

risers

Oh sure, the risers are called "Expand-A-Shelf" and you can usually find them in walmart (I imagine they're in other stores too). If all else fails, I know a catalog called Get Organized carries them, but they charge more.

It's been a few years since I bought them, so I don't remember exactly how much they were. I know less then $10 each. They come in 2 halves, and they slide apart to fit the width of your shelf.

G1: At first I´m displaying the ponies by country. Than by set. All babys are at the same place (but only babies from US/UK). Some ponies are displayed with their accessories.

G2/G3: All ponies are assorted because I don´t have many, yet.

Well... I have most of my international ponies in their own section as well as MO's, Te's, flutters, newborns, and then the rest of my babies are crammed on 1-1/2 shelves,.... but then after that I have them set up by pose.. so all my shy posed ponies are together, all of my medley posed ones are right behind them... and beyond that there's no major logic. I don't have enough space to be uber organized.

lol

lol, since everyone keeps asking....

They're called expand-a-shelf. They come in at least 3 sizes (I use the medium size). And, if you're really short on space, you can CRAM them full of ponies, as shown here...

LOL!! Your risers are so popular!! Ahhh...look at those OODLES of ponies. *drools*

Wow, some of you have you ponies displayed so wonderfully! I have some pics of mine, but they aren't that great. Were're renting right now, so I can't display all of my collection. When me move I want to display them more properly.

Pics are here:

That's not everything, but it covers a big chunk of them.

Right now mine are all in boxes, but I planning on making a special pony room. I will prbably have them organized by year they came out.

I usually display them by set, but I keep all of my international ponies on their own shelf. The G1s are with G1s, the few G2s are with each other and the G3s are scattered around due to their explosive numbers.

I wish I had my own pony room so I could pull out Paradise Estate and create a literal 'Ponyland'.
