There is no doll forum here so, I am not sure where to stick this. Yesterday I bought a doll at the thrift store that I thought was in mint condition. She was in a bag and looked really good. I get her home and taker her out of the bag. With that all of her rooted hair literally fell out on the table. It wasn't connected to her head and obviously it was not cut. It was splitting off at the root hole. In about 1 minute she went from having a beautiful wig to bald.
Well, that wasn't so much a problem because I had three wigs. I had to go with dark brown even though she was an Asian doll and needed black. I wasn't going to buy a new wig when I had one. So, I got ready to glue the new wig on and decided to take her clothes off first. Then her arm breaks off. ARGH At this point my husband says they should have paid us to carry off the doll for them lol. All is not lost after two hours we came up with a plan to restring her arms on and it was very difficult to do. We were successful. I don't have any before photos but just try to imagine no arms and no hair and you have a picture. Her arms were held on by a plastic peg but that was gone. It was a huge challenge.

This is My Disney Girl from Walt Disney World. She is 18 inches tall and in all original clothing. She was missing her autograph book, her Mickey ears and tote bag. I have made her ears and at some point today will start working on an autograph book and tote for her.

I think she looks like a cute little Hispanic girl now. I am happy with how she turned out. At least I saved her. She really was ready for the trash, but now she is back together again. I don't like her bangs straight across so I parted them a little but the wig is made for them to go all the way across. It bugs me for some reason so I combed this little v shape in them. What do you think about her after imagining the horror she was in the beginning? She was never played with at all. My guess is her hair was the reason she was donated. I have read on forums the hair on these dolls was a huge complaint. They don't make these anymore. I even have some Disney costumes for her.

Poor dolly! I once had most of the Bandai SSC line MIB (I deboxed them) and I sold them off a few years ago. About two years later or so (maybe longer) I started reading about all sorts of problems people were having with them. The hair falls off. Not sure why, but you can bet I was super happy not to have an entire book shelf of them anymore! It is a shame, they could make dolls and toys better if they want to, but they cut corners to save money sometimes :/ You should see the new Transformers, they are the epitome of cheap plastic junk!

@Icey

Yea my husband said the same thing about the new Transformers and those toys are so awesome. Its sad really that they are produced so poorly. These dolls were over 50.00 each in the park and if you ask me they were not even worth 15.00. I am thinking they didn't glue the roots or even knot them on the inside of the head. I would have tried to reroot her hair, but there is no way to access the inside of the head because the torso is sewn to the chest. I am in no way taking that head off.

She must look beautiful now that you came by and saved her from doom!

Yea she belonged on the Island of Misfit Toys for sure.
