I recently found the cutest mermaid outfit for G3 ponies from the old Disney Build A Pony shop. I understand ponies with a coat hanger mark can wear clothes but does anyone know of other ponies or body poses that might work? Which pony do you think would make a good Ariel?

The tail is fabric not plastic molding and fits like panties would. I wanted to dress up my Strawberry Reef (perfect red hair and ocean mark) but her butt is too big! Core friends with hangers don’t seem like good mermaids to me but I’ve seen non-core ponies with hanger marks. Would love recommendations on resources that list ponies with that mark. I’m still searching!

Love to hear your thoughts!

I think the “hanger marks” were meant for the plastic clothes released towards the end of G3.
However, I would say maybe Pepperberry, Seascape and Beachcomber would be likely candidates by looking at cutie mark/hair/color combos alone!

Those are excellent ideas! Someone told me later that Sparkleworks pose can wear the mermaid tail but sadly her butt is too big too. I figured the hanger mark was for the molded clothes but they appear to have the slimmer hips needed for this tail too.

I appreciate your input! I’ll look into the ones you mentioned.

A lot of the Disney pony clothes tend to fit tight, but they were sold in the era when Cinnamon Breeze, Piccolo, and others in that set came out, so in theory most G3s should be able to squeeze into them. I imagine that tail is one of the hardest pieces to make work though.

Strawberry Reef would have been my first choice as well.

That’s good input! I’ll look into that set more. You are correct about the tail being hardest to fit. It’s actually the only piece I haven’t been able to use yet. Do you happen to know which ponies were sold at Disney in-store? I only found one reference on My Little Wiki (Cinnamon Breeze).

The only pony I have right now that fits the tail is one of the later Pinkie Pies with a coat hanger symbol.

Update: You're probably dying to know! I ended up with two Ariels. I recently bought Royal Bouquet and Tropical Surprise and both are skinny enough to wear the tail! It’s a lot to wear so I split up the costume set.

Jasmine was also a recent addition and this Scootaloo looks great with the costume colors though it fits a little awkwardly.
