I'm very proud of my latest custom, but I've got a couple caveats that keep it from being totally complete in my eyes.

Isn't this little Jawbreaker a beauty? While this photo shows off some of her best traits, there's it also shows off some things that could be improved on. She was made from a Brush N Grow Bangles, and with her internal mechanism removed, she has no neck plug. Two-part epoxy has set it in place just fine, but the neck seam still looks pretty yellow and conspicuous.

On a more design-based aspect... her forehead. She feels balding, somehow? Like her bare forehead is really prominent. It bugs me. I think maybe a well-placed accessory could do the trick. I thought maybe a party hat, but that could be cluttered with her rainbow horn right there. What critique can you give? What do you like, and what could be accentuated?

EDIT: Thanks so much for all the help! I've got final photos a bit further down the thread.

Oh yeah she's quite lovely and so colorful! What if you do like a whole roaring 20's vibe with a scarf that covers the head and neck line. That candy kinda comes from that era, right?

Oh my… oh my… she’s gorgeous. Definitely gives the jawbreaker vibe.

A party hat is a good shout but what if the mane was somehow styled around the ear somehow? I’m not sure how
But @OctoberMoon ‘s idea is really good too. A little accessory could be fun!

My next custom was going to have splotches a bit like this too, but just a bit more tinier and closer

I love her! I definitely think her somewhat prominent forehead could be hidden by an accessory like the scarf mentioned above or maybe a unique hairstyle? I've given some ponies with weird hair situations cute bangs that disguised their bald spots. You could even just comb her forelock to the other side. If you do decide on an accessory, I would choose something sleek and simple to serve as a contrast to her bright body and hair. Perhaps something in the same blue as her cutie mark?

Yeeeeesssss! Everything about her is themed wonderfully! :ponylove:

I can't get over the paint flecks! She really looks like candy!

Maybe you could extend the jawbreaker rings out into forehead?

For the neck I think a faux candy necklace would be cute.
oh man, I'm LOVING those ideas. All of these ideas, really, but the candy necklace sounds like a lot of fun.

As for doing something with her hair, I'll admit that hairstyling isn't my biggest strength

Oh, I could eat her up! I love the flecks of paint. I'm a sucker for that good ol' 80's paint splatter that then evolved into 90's "firework" speckles. It reminds me of my favorite bike as a kid, was a Huffy I think with neon colored splatters of paint and then I remember having a Caboodle in the 90's that had the speckles pattern and even now I still have some 90's tupperware that had the firework pattern that's like confetti. Love, love love!

I would've never noticed her forehead if you didn't point it out, I don't think it's that bad. If it bugs you, what about a simple hairdo. Take just a bit of front hair and bring it around the display side ear and then maybe attach it back to the mane with a tiny cute clip? That would be simple and if you make her a cute candy necklace maybe use one of those "beads" or "candy" whatever you use to make the clip so they match?

I love how the horn captures the colorful inside of a jawbreaker! I haven’t had a jawbreaker in many years. Yum.

You did an amazing job! For the hair maybe add more plugs and another row of color?

I love the candy necklace idea. It’s perfect

I love the way you painted her horn. It reminds me of the rainbow lollipops.

I totally love the candy necklace idea. It would be super cute.

I love everything about her design! The horn, the mane, the color speckles! The eye and symbol are alos lovely.

Is it strange to say that I actually like the bare forehead. I feel like it's fitting to the theme because it enhances a smooth rounded silhouette and kind of makes me think that it's because it was a jawbreaker that transformed into a pony!

This is awesome!! I love the colors you chose for this pony's hair. It's so perfect! The eyes are so gorgeous as well. It could be that the base of the pony's horn being white like the rest of the pony is what makes the forehead feel 'bald.' I agree that possibly extending the rings a bit could make it less apparent if you're interested, but I truly think it looks great as is!

I'm curious about the technique you used for the splat-like effect, if you don't mind. Way back in elementary or middle school they taught us the technique of flinging paint from a paint brush to achieve a splatter kind of effect. Did you do something like that, or did you hand paint the spots where you wanted them? All the spots are placed in such great spots, but it looks random, so I'm curious!

You did a fantastic job with this pony!!

I wish I could do that! Everything about this is perfect! :ponylove:

I tried flinging the paint, but it was such a small target that I could only really do it at close range, which didn't look right. I actually painted each splat individually, doing my best to make them LOOK random.

With that, I'd like to share an update: I'm finally satisfied! I took some advice from many of you, mostly about hair styling, but also embracing a bit of baldness. Everyone's different, y'know? Who says a prominent forehead is a flaw? I know I'm a big fan of Frye from Splatoon 3, and she's got a very prominent noggin. I mixed that with some bangs that came out looking a little funny, but in a way that I kind of adore. Behold!

Does it hide her horn from one side? Yeah, kinda. But it gives me the vibe of a slightly moody teen. Like she's the kid at the arcade who's hoarding ALL the tickets and being real smug about it.

this design is so cool!!?? I think the new hair styling works great. I'm obsessed with this concept I don't know if this is a strange thing to say but she looks delicious

SOOOO COOOL AND CUTE AND PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like how she turned out! She does look delicious!

So lovely!! I'm shocked that you hand-painted every splatter and spot, it looks so organic! The hair turned out wonderful. I'm a huge fan of this pony, you did an amazing job!!! :snuzzle: :redheart:
