I got a Scoops with tail rust last month and decided to try fixing her tail rust. It's my first time trying to restore a pony with this problem so it was challenging but thanks to the tutorials here, I'm able to work it out! She's still not completely done with her cleaning yet so I'll update this thread when there's more progress.

Head removed! I don't have a X-Acto Knife so I boiled her and used a pen knife to slowly slice through the glue that's still connecting between her head and body.

I was really worried about damaging her but luckily she turned out fine and I was really pleased with my first head removal attempt! :star:
I'm not posting a pic of her insides because there's mold and rust and it's a little nasty looking, but you can see some staining at her head from the rust.

Very rusty metal washer. I made a mistake of removing the washer too soon so her tail hair is all over the table after I removed the clamp :cry:Her hair is now in a messy clump so I plan to put all of them in water tomorrow to make it easier for me to sort them out and clean too.

Washing Scoops. Not sure how much of the rust stains I can remove that's deep inside her but I'll try. Already got most of the rust dirt out from washing so I'm hoping a good soak will help make the stains and mold easier to clean off.

And that's all the progress so far  I'm pretty happy with it so far and I'm hoping Scoops can be all cleaned up and restored soon!

Indeed! I love the ice cream patterns on her!
Ooo Party Time! I really like her but I don't have her yet. Hope her cleaning goes well! :)

Scoops has been restored! :lolpony: I went out to get some zip ties to put her tail back together and using the tutorial here, I managed to get her tail back onto her!

It was like magic when her tail got pulled through! I was worried that her tail would be a huge mess caus I had such a hard time putting them back together after they got clumped up but it turned out well in the end!

And here she is put back together!

I'm really happy with my first tail rust restoration! It gives me confidence to fix other tail rusted ponies in the future too :star:

Awesome job!! :twohearts:
She looks brand new and refreshed <3

congrats!! you did a lovely job on her :0) pony restorations always make my day :ponylove:

Proud of you and the restoration you did, good job!

Scoop's successful restoration gave me the confidence to fix Sweet Tooth's tail rust! I originally planned on selling her from the beginning but I really like her design and was hesitant, but now I've decided to keep her and restore her :)

Here she is with her head removed. She had some really rusty strings of glue attached to her that I washed off. Other than that, she has mold and rust inside her like Scoops. I was able to remove her head much easier than Scoops' too.

Nasty tail rust :sadpony: I learnt my lesson from last time and kept the washer attached to her tail for now so her hair won't get all over the table once the clamp is off. Still have a hard time removing the clamp because I'm not that great at using the pliers but I managed to in the end.

She's soaking now! Will clean her up tomorrow!

My second attempt at fixing tail rust is smooth now compared to my first!
