I was in the MLP community way back in the day--think 1998 to early 2000s. Before even the G2s came out, Baby Gloomy customs were the rage (and I have one, and it's still gorgeous 25 years later) and Ponypalooza run by the Delaneys and the idea was born (IIRC) in MLPTP chat. Or maybe it was the alt-mlp newsgroup. Back then search engines weren't like they are now, and most shops didn't have storefronts, but I spoke enough French & German that I was able to track down European toystores that were online and occasionaly they had old pony stock still for sale and were willing to process my American credit card (thank you, Amex, for international transactions) or I literally just sent francs or deutchmarks (this is pre Euro). So that's how I have these. Except for the 2 Babies--I vaugely remember spotting those on Yahoo Auctions and were in... Canada, I think.
I have about a dozen NIB/MOC G1 ponies that have just been in a crate following me around for the past 25 years. I've realized I'm never going to display them, that I've never really been into MIB/MOC, and it's probably time to sell them.
But I have no idea what they're worth, and I want to avoid Ebay or transporting them to Maryland for PonyFest.
The boxes/cards are not in pristine condition. The boxes have some crushing (probably fixable, there's no creasing, just some sagging), the plastic and glue on the cards really doesn't age well and is very fragile. They are somewhat faded from age, but have not been stored in sunlight. None of the ponies have measels, pink hair is still pink, curls are still curly etc.
I am in the US. I am willing to ship internationally.
Thanks in advance for any insight on their value and the best way to get them to new homes.
ETA:
Thanks to everyone! I've started listing them on Ebay, but it's going to take a while to get photos of everything. Any advice on selling them is welcome, I've been out of it for decades, LOL. I looked through my bins and I have:
- Baby Diamond (no ring, no necklace)
- Baby Sapphire with Ring + Necklace
- Baby Ruby with Ring + Necklace
- Mimic
- UK Baby Gusty (NBBE)
- Baby Cherries Jubilee
- MOC German Starshine
- MOC German Moonstone
- MOC Baby Hopscotch
- MOC Hopscotch
- MOC Cherries Jubilee
- MOC Baby Surprise
- MOC Baby Moondancer
- MOC Italian Skydancer on French Starshine card (the bubble is in bad shape, tho)
- MOC Princess Sparkle (French card)
- MOC Italian Bowtie (german card)
- MOC Italian Blossom (french card)
- MOC Princess Starburst (French card)
- German Princess Sparkle
- UK Varient IV Princess Primrose
- Greek Baby Lemondrop
- A seeming 1-of-a-kind periwinkle white-haired Italian Blossom (it doesn't look like another was ever discovered as there appears to be no listing of a similiar one on any of the wikis or nirvana sites. She was controversial back in the day because people said she was just faded purple, but the white hair is well... white)
- MOC Italy Parasol on german card
- MWC Bubbles (it's complicated)
- MIB Diamond Dreams
- SS Satin N Lace, Twilight, Crumpet, Angel, Paradise
- Assorted G1 princess ponies
- G2 Ivy MIB
- G2 Princess Golden Light, Silver Glow, Copper Glow
- A lot of seaponies? So many seaponies. WHEN DID I BUY ALL THESE SEAPONIES? I HAVE LIKE 10 OF THESE.
- A couple of princess wands, combs, crowns
- a bunch of the comics spain & maia ponies. People sent them to me because everyone hated them, no one at the time knew what they were, and I liked them so now I've got a bunch of the little monsters
