Oh no, I know what it's like to get anxious though! If you'd like friends to go with you're welcome to join me and my friends this yearOK, I hate that I missed that! I was deliberating but felt too shy.
It’s good to see some updates again! I understand you can’t update us regularly it’s okay!I'm happy to be transparent about all of this because I'm not looking to make a profit or start some kind of business empire haha
So for the first production run of ponies we're looking at about £7000 for 1000 pony blanks. Quotes for 500 ponies were coming in at around £6000 - so all things considered an order of 1000 actually makes the most sense. Also the idea of having 1000 ponies arrive at my house makes me way too excited.
I won't share any of Clipper's business information but I am aware this is a good industry price and comparable to HQG1C
So based on current (not set in stone) maths I was thinking of selling each blank for about £10-£12 (plus shipping which will vary depending on your country) which would mean we'd need to sell roughly 700 through Kickstarter or a safe pre-order system. I don't even know if there are 700 G2 collectors in the world haha, but I have had interest from HQG1C retailers for some wholesale orders, and hopefully there are a few of you who'd buy more than one pony
For the security of the project though, I'd rather have my own safety net fund of at least half the production cost (so £3500) for emergency costs, unexpected costs, and also the more money I can put into it upfront, the less kickstarter sales we'd need, and this increases the likelihood of the target being met and the project actually getting off the ground!
In the world of business, this is pocket change for a manufacturing venture. But in the world of just being one ambitious fan with bills to pay, obviously I can't magic this amount out of thin air haha. It is do-able, and I don't mind putting my own money in as I think they'll sell well and be successful but the worst case scenario is I end up with a lifetime supply of customisable ponies in my craft room.
All profit would go back into the project, I'm seriously not interested in making money from this and I don't think niche 90s ponies would be a good get rich scheme anyway. The money made from the first run would go straight into a second different run of ponies, and so on. I'm so desperate for a run of pegasus ponies, but also would love to offer different colour blanks, specially designed characters, new poses etc. Perhaps eventually even accessories - both replicas and all new ponywear.........dare I even say, in my wildest dreams, playsets?! Because why did we never get Sunsparkle's dance studio!!!
There is absolutely no expectation or obligation to financially back us, I know what an expensive hobby ponies are haha and I know how troubling our current economy can be too! It’s good to see some updates again! I understand you can’t update us regularly it’s okay!
Whilst I am unable to help financially with Kickstarter and things like that, I am still rooting for this project to become real. I have three HQG1C blanks (one now customised) so and idea of G2 blanks are pretty exciting. Hopefully one day I can customise one and perhaps see more!
I’m sure there are more than 700 G2 fans out there. As a UK based collector too, the idea of G2 stuff that may be produced on this bit of land is a really nice thought. It could be just around the corner from me…
Ponies and dolls are my two big loves (I also collect Disney Princesses and Ever After High) and my obsession flip flops between them, or sometimes I'm intensely invested in both at the same time and I can't find enough time to do both hobbies at once haha
Yeah the US got really missed out from G2 which is bizarre given that it's Hasbro. But even the UK didn't get a whole lot, I get almost all of mine from France and The Netherlands where they were SUPER common and still are!
Uk Ponycon is every October, and this year's theme is celebrating all the generations so that means its G2 inclusion time babeeeyyy
Also I'd definitely like to do some G2 style merch regardless because oh boy there wasn't much and I need that sweet 90s pastel weird font kitschy goodness aethetic on everything. I've even considered custom G2 wallpaper for the wall behind my pony shelves lol. I'm ambitious but I want pins, stickers, resin charms, plushies, stationery, tshirts, my own G2 lolita dress line (I used to design lolita dress prints). If a pony can be slapped on it, I wanna make it.
First pose is Pretty Parlour Ivy style because I think it's the prettiest and I have a beyond restoration bait to be used as the master!Which poses are you thinking of starting with?
Of course please do message me! I could talk anything G2 all dayI would LOVE to help you with all of that kind of merch you'd like to have made! Is it ok if I PM you?
I hope it can help fund your project, and if not, at least you'll be out there showing love for G2 ponies! I wish I could afford to go!
Omg,.... def. need to see your lolita dress prints too...!!

She's one of my absolutely faves - but I love the pose too, head down, little raised hoof. It feels like the most quintessentially G2 look because it's so dainty and pretty and extra-feminine, especially because it's the unicorn pose too. Funny we never saw a unicorn with a raised hoof or walking lol, I guess unicorns must be extra dainty at all times in G2 societyI have a lovely pretty parlour Ivy, she is so dainty

OMG I LOVE THE PONY 3D MODEL SO MUCH!!! AND THE CENTUAR MODEL IS DARLING!!!!!Def. Need to find where you share your art/animation work!!!
I can offer to help with sourcing merch: Charms/Keychains/Stickers/Prints and assist in prepping art for all of those if you havent dipped your hooves into that stuff before. (Though LOTS of artist's have these days!)
I also have my own heart and round button machine, would TOTALLY LOVE to help do a fund raiser using some of those!!
I've also got a concept and WIP for a ball jointed G2 Pony, if that's of any interest, I've been selling .STLs of my BJDs and would totally love to offer to sell these .STLs to help fund your project! The fun thing about .STLs is no shipping... lol.
Though maybe some 3D printed toy ponies could be used to help fund your project as well! (PLA Filament is pretty price friendly, maybe you could sell one-off BJD G2 Ponies and the funds could go to making your blanks?)
I'm just tossing ideas out there because like the other folks here, I wanna pitch in too! I don't have a ton of funds, but I've got lots of insane ideas.
EDIT: If BJDs are too tedious, I've been playing with making action figures too!! So just 4 jointed legs that move at the shoulder/hip!
Here's my mock up of a BJD pony with posable joints! I've made a horse BJD before (right) so I hope this helps get some ideas!!
