Hi everyone! I found a g3 Rainbow Dash (https://data.mlpmerch.com/g3/details/g3rd3rcw2/) at the thrift store the other day. Now, I had G3's back in the day and I know they had a smell to them (like how G1's have a smell to them, y'know?) and she just smells... off. That may be because she was at a thrift store where she could have come from anywhere. Now, it is only an issue when I smell her up close, but is there any way to maybe get rid of the smell? I have heard that dryer sheets can help, febreeze, etc. etc. It isn't a BAD or MUSTY smell just an old smell. How do you freshen up your ponies?
ALSO, has anyone ever replaced the tail washer for a G3? I have done it many times for G1 but it just seems like its more difficult to take a G3 pony apart to do work on. Does anyone have tips as to how I could replace her washer without decreasing her value or ruining her neck seam?

THANK YOU, PONY FRIENDS!! STAY MAGICAL!

I’ve never tried it with a pony, but my favorite way to get the scent of off anything is to put it in a drawer with a block of cedar wood for a week or two  It’s worked on yarn, clothes, plush and a few barbies so I assume it would work on a pony too

We recently had a thread about this issue.

it happens to all generations.

Air her out on a windowsill, (I recently destunk a g3 pony that smelled like an ash tray this way.)
Wrap her in dryer sheets and put her in a plastic bag till it goes away
Put her in a large plastic container and fill a smaller plastic bowl with baking soda and leave her there for a while

As for the tail washer, getting the heads off G3s is the worst. Hasbro went crazy on the glue on these girls. Your best bet is to run hot water over the neck seam and see if you can’t get it to loosen up a bit. If you can start to get it open, you can try to pry it further with a blunt knife and more hot water, but using anything remotely sharp will risk cutting into the plastic.
It’s worth noting that some early G3s had plastic washers. If you’re not seeing evidence of tail rust, and you’re not planning on soaking her in water, you could just leave well enough alone with the washer and neck seam.
